After viewing the lesson on the Paschal Mystery of Jesus, I learned about the central event
in Christian faith - the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This mystery refers to the
cycle of suffering, death, resurrection, and glorification that Jesus underwent for the
salvation of humanity.

As a Christians I believe that God sent His son, Jesus Christ, to save mankind from sin and
death through his suffering, death and resurrection. However, it is corrected by the CFC
#558 that it is not the very suffering and death of Jesus Christ that saved us, rather we are
saved by Jesus' perfect self-giving love for His father and for us, a love that lived out to
death. Also, the crucifixion to the cross does not exalt passive suffering or weakness, but
rather it is the transformation of suffering and weakness through active total self-giving love.

I also learned that there are four components of the Paschal Mystery: Suffering (Jesus'
agony before He was crucified), Death (crucifixion), Resurrection (rise from the dead on
Easter Sunday), and Glorification (returning to Heaven). These events together signify
Christ's, Paschal Mystery. Furthermore, during the session, it is also discussed Jesus'
crucifixion and the doctrine of the cross which to become a disciple we must, first, deny
ourselves - the passion and the death of Christ is the center of the Christian vision of life.
Second, take up the cross - it points to what it means to believe, live, love, and forgive. And
the final, follow in His steps - we can share in the cross of Christ through suffering for the
sake of others.

In conclusion, studying the Paschal Mystery has helped me understand more deeply my
Christian faith and how to strengthen it. It has taught me about God's immense love for
mankind and how much he was willing to give up for our redemption.
