On July 4, 1971, Koko was born at the San Francisco Zoo.
Researcher Francine Patterson began working with Koko in
1972, teaching her sign language. Patterson and her
collaborator Ronald Cohn founded The Gorilla Foundation.
In 1979, Koko moved with the group to the Santa Cruz
Mountains. Research and work with Koko and other gorillas
revealed that great apes have language abilities similar to
those of young children. Researcher Anne Russon said
teaching Koko and other animals sign language, rather
than just trying verbal communication, was a "huge leap
forward." In addition to language, Koko's behavior also
revealed emotions similar to those of humans. What made
Koko special was that he seemed to have a sense of humor
and even a bit of playful mischief. Koko was recognized as
one of the most intellectual apes in history, she was loved
by millions of people around the world. Under Patterson's
care, she learned more than 1,000 words in sign language
and came to understand more than 2,000 words spoken to
her in English. In an interview. "She got the chance to show
her brilliance and get to see something amazing. We saw a
person, really. She had all the attributes of a person and
then some." Cynthia Gorney, a contributing writer for
National Geographic, interviewed Koko in 1985. At first,
Koko did not seem to like Gorney, calling her a toilet
through sign language. mentioned by Gorney, Patterson
chided her saying, “Koko! That's not nice." But Koko was
quick to warm to her interviewer, and when Gorney asked
Koko where gorillas go when they die, she said, "happy,
bye." Koko appeared in several documentaries and
interacted with the actor. Robin Williams in a 2001 video,
playing with Williams and trying on his glasses. The

Writing 2
If today scientists created a pill that would allow me to
live twice my life or even forever, I would take it, but I
know you will wonder why, it would be to live and
experience new things, to be able to see how the world
I could evolve, how I will be able to see my family grow
and with whom I will live the rest of my life, without
hesitation I know that I would like to be in every
beautiful moment that I can have with them and the
fact of not getting sick is like a plus in detail , because I
know that in the year 357 , I will be stable with my
children , grandchildren and great - grandchildren .
Together with whom I am accompanied today in a
relationship that will be many years old by then, I know
that I will enjoy knowing the whole world next to him
and that we will probably move many times from our
house and end up living in California with our 4
children of 13, 14, 15 and 16. Since the fact that we
study a career that can solve us that are Engineering
and communication, we obtain having a large house
with our tastes and luxuries. Apart from that, being
able to see innovations such as the creation of flying
cars or the fact that garbage disintegrates, the
evolution in the way people think is very rewarding. I
finally concluded that if this pill existed, not only
would I take it, but people close to me would make
them take it because I am happy to see things evolve.
Apart from this, an overpopulation would not be
created because just as there are people who do not
like to take the pill, there will be others who do, apart
from the fact that by evolving one can go to other
planets to be able to migrate and discover new places,
with the form of travel and be able to communicate
like today.
