    Thank you for your open letter addressed to the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security
    Policy, Mr. Joseph Borrell. The High Representative has asked us to reply on his behalf.

    We would like to let you know that we have informed the EU Delegation in Rabat and the situation
    of Mr Houssein Amaadour has been raised during the dedicated exchanges with the representatives
    of the Moroccan National Human Rights Council (CNDH). We will continue to follow his case.

    The European Union maintains its unwavering commitment to protecting and promoting human
    rights and fundamental freedoms, which includes ensuring full respect for due process guarantees for
    all citizens and respect for prisoners’ rights, in accordance with international obligations and
    standards. This is part of our on-going dialogue and engagement with Morocco and we will continue
    to actively pursue and deliver on this commitment.
