Construction Mishap in Cebu City

One worker killed and one injured

after the portion of a construction site

they were working collapsed in

Barangay Apas in cabu City on 22nd of

May 2021.

The two workers were trying to finish

tying the rebars that served as the footing of the Tower 4 building at the construction site when

the excavated area suddenly caved in.

The incident was reported at 11:43 am. The involved construction company is PLD Construction

where they are fined 100,000 Pesos to the workers for failing to observe the safety and health of

the workers. They also paid the medical bills of the 2 workers and paid their families. A work

stoppage was served at the project site on the same day.

And upon researching the excavated area was already five meters deep, the incident could be

avoided if there should have been some soil protection installed. Construction companies should

take care of their workers. The safety and health of workers should be the top priority.
