Reading Response
The writer chose to research the ways in which having different accessibility to menus will
influence the behavior of customers. Having worked at Starbucks before, the writer was able to
offer their own opinions in a way that was used as supporting evidence for their research. They
conducted their research by using a direct comparison of the menu in their nearby store against
the one available online, and with multi-modal analysis they evaluated the differences. The
results came out to be that the menu presented online is more accessible compared to those
shown in-store and in drive-thru when it comes to reading text. Those in-store and in drive-thru
have significantly smaller text, making it harder for visually impaired people to read. The
importance of this research is that it surrounds the matter of how accessible things are for
people that are disabled. As the world continues to grow and technology advances, it should be
expected that accessibility will become more universal, however that sometimes is not the
case. Everything cannot fully be accessible to every community, but improvement is always
needed.
