This semester I will be working with grades K-5.

Because this Friday is Holocaust Remembrance Day, I would like to discuss the
Holocaust, vocabulary, and reading an easy fiction story that has true facts about the
time (realistic fiction). We will also tie this into non-fiction by using a short video about
King Christian, who helped the Jewish people during this time.

staff and students in the integration of information technology and information literacy,

culturally diverse interests of the school and local community and develops a school
library program that responds to these unique community characteristics.

We will start the lesson by presenting a slideshow (attachment) with vocabulary words.
students will participate in Dictionary Wars (dictionary use is a skill that 5th grade
students have practiced). For Dictionary Wars, students will race to find the word in the
dictionary. We will compete boys against girls. We will start a discussion on genocide
(the word will be displayed on the screen) We will look up the following words :legend,
