1 SCOPE

This document covers the Equipment Tagging requirements for Mechanical Equipment
and Fabrications.

2 EQUIPMENT TAGGING

2.1 Equipment Tag

2.1.1 In addition to the manufacturer’s standard nameplate, the Vendor

shall supply Equipment Tags of stamped or engraved stainless steel
tags.

2.1.2 The tags shall be attached to the equipment and located so that they
can be left secured during operation. Minimum letter size shall be 3
mm (1/8 inch).

2.1.3 Tags shall include the following minimum information in the order
listed.

Equipment Tag Number

Manufacturer's Name
Equipment Size and Model Number
Purchase Order Number

2.2 Tagging By Sub-supplier

The Purchase Order (P.O.) Number and Equipment Tag Number above shall be
in accordance with the Owner’s Representative’s P.O. number and tag number,
not the Vendor’s or sub-supplier’s number. In the event that the sub-supplier
creates the equipment tag, the Vendor is responsible for providing the tagging
information to the sub-suppliers.

2.3 Equipment Tag Schedule

Vendor shall submit a listing of all equipment tags with proposed identification for
review prior to making tags.

3 VALVE TAGGING

3.1 Each valve shall reference a Manufacturer and figure number, and will designate
the size, type and materials of construction. Corresponding valve numbers shall
be shown on the piping drawings as follows:

2" = Valve size
GA = Valve type per specification No. 170025-4601
01 = Sequential numbering. First of particular valve type in this case

3.2 Valve tags shall be stamped or engraved stainless steel. Tag dimensions shall
be 1-inch by 3-inches with a minimum thickness of 0.025-inches, and pre-drilled
for attachment to the valve. Minimum letter size shall be 0.5 (1/2) inch.

3.3 Tags shall be attached to the valves with 26-gauge, 18-8 stainless steel wire in a
location that will not obstruct the installation or operation of the valve.

3.4 Items to be Tagged

In addition to valves the following items shall be tagged:
• Air/Vacuum Valves
• Backflow Preventers
• Expansion Joints
• Steam Traps
• Strainers (Y-strainers and basket strainers)

3.5 Valve Tag Schedule

Vendor shall submit a listing of all valve tags with proposed identification for
review prior to making tags.
