EQUIPMENT TAGGING

1 SCOPE
This document covers the Equipment Tagging requirements for Mechanical Equipment
and Fabrications.
2 EQUIPMENT TAGGING
2.1.2 The tags shall be attached to the equipment and located so that they
can be left secured during operation. Minimum letter size shall be 3
mm (1/8 inch).
2.1.3 Tags shall include the following minimum information in the order
listed.
The Purchase Order (P.O.) Number and Equipment Tag Number above shall be
in accordance with the Owner’s Representative’s P.O. number and tag number,
not the Vendor’s or sub-supplier’s number. In the event that the sub-supplier
creates the equipment tag, the Vendor is responsible for providing the tagging
information to the sub-suppliers.
Vendor shall submit a listing of all equipment tags with proposed identification for
review prior to making tags.
3 VALVE TAGGING
3.1 Each valve shall reference a Manufacturer and figure number, and will designate
the size, type and materials of construction. Corresponding valve numbers shall
be shown on the piping drawings as follows:

3.2 Valve tags shall be stamped or engraved stainless steel. Tag dimensions shall
be 1-inch by 3-inches with a minimum thickness of 0.025-inches, and pre-drilled
for attachment to the valve. Minimum letter size shall be 0.5 (1/2) inch.
3.3 Tags shall be attached to the valves with 26-gauge, 18-8 stainless steel wire in a
location that will not obstruct the installation or operation of the valve.
Vendor shall submit a listing of all valve tags with proposed identification for
review prior to making tags.
