Firstly, the researcher will like to thank god for giving him great health and strength throughout
this project so that he could have completed it. Secondly the researcher will like to thank his
subject teacher for explaining and discussing the School Base Assessment (SBA) part by part so
that he can understand what to do. Thirdly the researcher will like to thank his parents and family

Introduction
This project is based on a business plan that the researcher will use to start a chicken business.
The business plan includes the description of the business, justification of business, products and
services, marketing plan, operational plan and financial plan.

Suraj’s Halall Chicken Outlet will provide the best clean plucked, packed, (live), (optional)
chicken to the community and further a field without causing any pollution or unhealthy
practices that will have a negative impact to the people.

Objectives of the Business

 To ensure that my community have fresh, healthy and good quality of chicken to feed
their family in great quantity.
 To create a successful business that will benefit the customers.

Location

Suraj’s Halall Chicken Outlet is located at lot 13 Albion, Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice.

Market research:

Target population and size of the market.

Suraj’s Halall Chicken Outlet target population is people at Albion Village to buy his fresh, clean
chickens. The researcher’s also aim at people from other villages in order to expand his business.

Price of similar products and/or services and main competitors.

These are times when chicken price fluctuate, thus Suraj Halall Chicken Outlet will have similar
products like duck meets to sell in order to satisfy the demand of customers. The researcher
knows that they are other chicken places like Kim Halall Chicken, Sam Chicken shop and many
other chicken outlets that will persuade you to buy from them. But Suraj Halall Chicken Outlet
sells his chicken at an affordable price and he even weighs his chicken for less price.

Suraj’s Halall Chicken Outlet gives you 100% assurance that you will be buying healthy
chicken. So come get your clean plucked chicken, packaged chicken and live chicken at Suraj’s

Availability and Comparative prices of substitutes

There are times when some people will want to buy chicken parts like the foots, liver, gizzards,
etc. Thus Suraj’s Halall Chicken Outlet will be selling those items as substitutes because it is
what customers will demand. The researcher will also substitute ducks at a similar price for when
he don’t have chickens or when chickens are not available.

 Having person with great skills and knowledge about my business to work in my business.
 Having money and modernize equipment to start my business.

Weakness:
 Since there is a lot of chicken business within my location area, I have not been making a
large profit.
 My competitors have been selling chicken cheap to compete with me thus causing me to
unable to meet customers need.

Opportunities
 The researcher sees that the area has spaces for the expanding of the business if it is
necessary.
 There is high demand for chicken in this community.

 High death rate of chicken
 Chickens can also be infected with viruses

The main reason why the researcher chooses this location is because there is maximums area for
expanding to a larger business and there is a high demand for chicken in this area. The researcher
sees this as an opportunity to start a business and make a profit.

meet customers need.

Suraj’s Halall Chicken Outlet will be using the direct distribution channel to sell the chickens.
One reasons for the business to have this channel is because there will be a free delivery for
persons who are buying a lot of chickens. However at the same time the business will also sell
chickens by kg and parts to people who buy on a small scale or on a everyday basis.

Suraj’s Halall Chicken Outlet will be advertising his business on the internet using Social
Medias. The researcher adverting will include days when the price change or fluctuate, the
average price and the quality and quantity of chicken.

Suraj’s Halall Chicken Outlet wants to maintain a favorable image and build beneficial
relationships between the public, by always selling healthy plucked chickens for a reasonable
price.

Production department- is the functional area responsible for turning inputs into finished outputs
through a series of production processes. The production manager is responsible for making sure
that raw material are provided and made into finish goods effectively.

Sales department- consists of a set of business activities and processes that help a sales
organization run effectively and in support of the business strategies and objectives. The sales
department generally includes sales, sales support or business operations.

Marketing department-this department helps with the advertising, transports, processes,


packaging and selling of products (chicken). The marketing department produces internal
communication.

Distribution department- this department is responsible for ensuring that the distribution of
productions are done.

In this project the researcher has learned the components of a business plan and how to go about
writing a business plan. After doing this SBA, the researcher learnt how to start and manage a
business. The researcher also learns how to meet customers demand in price and quantity. It can
be concluded by saying that the researcher has learned a lot by doing this project.
