Nerf Gun

William C., Delaney L., Aiden L., Ariana J., James F.

Introduction
● Chose to model a nerf gun because it has a lot of intricate

mechanical parts and did not seem too difficult

● Initially thought that it would be easier than it ended up being

● Having a physical reference helped a lot

FEA
FEA Results
● Static force assembly on exterior plunger shell (58 lbf)

● Selected material for FEA: ABS plastic

● Determined if nerf gun could withstand force of pulling back the slider

● Max displacement: 2.338e-01 in

● Max stress: 4.081e+04 psi

● Resulting max stress was less than the yield strength of the part, therefore the design is safe

● We decided to keep the design the same because of this

New Feature
Spring compression

● Was a crucial feature for the nerf gun to have for

functionality

Appearance Feature
● Added color to the assembly
Reflection
● New: Appearance feature, compressing spring

● Challenge: proportions, mates, everyone having the same

part files for the assembly

● Overall: interesting cumulative project
