PASAD – Points to consider:

1. Our business is catering to customers who need storage space.

2. Customers only book with us seasonally. It could be a month or

two months. So our consumption needs in electricity goes up and
down. Right now, we only have one customer.

3. Our meters are located outside our Compound. This same meters
are surrounded by squatters.

In fact, we requested for the transfer of these meters before.

4. The so called apprehension happened November 17, 2006. The

meters were left in PECO’s possession. We were invited for the
meter testing last February 2, 2007 or 75 days later.

Would the so called meters have been tampered by people

from within?

 We, the residents of Iloilo City, together with our different Civic, Religious and Business
Organizations, call for the immediate establishment of a truly independent and judicious Energy
Regulatory Commission (ERC) laboratory in Iloilo City.
 As it is, Iloilo City residents are being charged with the highest electricity rate in the
whole Philippines. Everywhere we go, the complaint one hears is the astronomical charges that
Panay Electric Company (PECO) imposes on the hapless Ilonggo consumer.
Furthermore, Ilonggo resident consumers cannot truly ascertain if their electrical meters
are really calibrated properly since all electrical meters in Iloilo City can only be installed if they
pass through the calibration laboratory of PECO, the very same company that supplies electricity
and charges and collects premium from Iloilo residents.
It is a known fact that a lot of squabbles have ensued between PECO and its consumers
because of its astronomical billings.
This tyranny on Ilonggo consumers has to stop for the good of the Iloilo City community.
And the immediate establishment of a truly independent and judicious Energy Regulatory
Commission (ERC) Laboratory in Iloilo City that would ascertain the correctness of our meters
is one good way of addressing this problem.
