Whenever

Psalm 118
Welcome to our first week of Beyond Breakroom Series
Because life happens everyday.

we can experience a lot of situations.

there are wins to celebrate
sometimes we have challenges, struggles to face

v. 24
Psalm 118:24 NLT
This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

I remember there’s this one sunday last year…

in November

(Share personal story about Tita Lydia who had a stroke)

I learned the news right after praise and worship.

It was hard to rejoice.

It was difficult to be glad.

But I know that there’s just this peace that I experienced as well that day.

God allowed my HEART to be set that moment.

to still PRAISE.
*type in the chat “I will still praise”

Coz we know that He is still in Control.

—— Connect “in control” to next point.

Look up to the one who is in control.

i remember the word

PERSPECTIVE
theres also this verse few chapters after 118

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills.

From where does my help come?
2 My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

looking up to the hills doesn’t discount the fact that there are challenges behind it,
but looking up helps you fix your eyes to the one who is higher. We look up to God
for there is none above Him.

How can you see your situation in light of how faithful God has been in your life?
How can you change your perspective, knowing your position in Christ?

REMEMBER
(Read Verse 8-14)
David remembered God’s goodness through out every season.

Psalm 118:8-14 NLT

It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in people. [9] It is better to take
refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes. [10] Though hostile nations
surrounded me, I destroyed them all with the authority of the LORD.

[11] Yes, they surrounded and attacked me, but I destroyed them all with the
authority of the LORD. [12] They swarmed around me like bees; they blazed
against me like a crackling fire. But I destroyed them all with the authority of the
LORD. [13] My enemies did their best to kill me, but the LORD rescued me. [14]
The LORD is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.

____

ANTICIPATE (this is the application)

Now that we’ve remembered what God has done in and through us
now we can anticipate greater things in the future.

(Read Verse 5-7)

You are being hard pressed by the weight of your work load, peer pressure,
expectations in the family, marriage, or in other areas of your life that greatly
affects you, or even in the smallest details that you let sink in your mind.
Or there maybe times that you don’t feel like worshipping because of the things
that preoccupies you.
(verse 7) The Voice Version
The Eternal is on my side, a champion for my cause;
so when I look at those who hate me, victory will be in sight.

He saw BEYOND.
David, by faith, anticipated the victory that he knows that he’ll experience.
Sometimes we maybe doubtful, but it’s okay. Being in faith doesn’t mean the
absence of doubt, but it’s believing and trusting God despite the doubts.

———

but also sometimes…

Sometimes the promise doesn’t come right away, so while you are anticipating for
greater things you must be actively waiting

ILLUS: Expecting a baby.

There will be a preparation, beauty in waiting.

Preparation
Completing stuff
New Learnings
Prayers Invested

INCREASE
How do you remain active while waiting? INCREASE
Increase your faith
Increase your intimacy with God
Increase your
...Worship

That while waiting we will know that the our greatest need is God Himself.

And He is IN us.

________

and as we know God more, we will also know what the right posture should be

and that is to

SURRENDER
Going back to the verse, it also teaches us how to surrender.
v.24 This is the DAY that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.
Acknowledging God’s supremacy in our lives, even in the menial things It’s dying
to yourself everyday.

David’s example — everyday with the sheep (menial task)

being in that place where God called you to be.

It’s not always grand. It’s not always ideal.

BUT IT IS…
deciding in your heart to declare, that this is the day...
deciding in your heart to honor God, follow him, and surrender.

———

ENDURE
v.29 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

We can have a love that endures because our God’s love endures forever. A faith
that can last until the end.

-Christocentric-
Hebrews 12:2
looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was
set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the
right hand of the throne of God.

Conclusion
Worship is a response to what God has done for us. (GOSPEL)

We worship because God is good, we can PRAISE because we always have

something to celebrate, we have the hope that can be found in Jesus.
God’s goodness in our lives shouldn’t stop in our lives but it should overflow in our
hearts as we begin to ask God for grace that we may see what God can do through
us.
