Project Proposal

MATHEMATICS 7
“ALGEBRA TILES”

Objectives:
At the end of this project, the learners shall be able to;
a. apply the concept of special product in multiplying polynomials;
b. use appropriate algebra tiles in solving special products ; and
c. appreciate the use of algebra tiles in solving special products.

Materials:
 Colored papers / Construction papers
 Pen
 Scissors
 Ruler
 Glue
 Long bond papers
Procedures:
1. Students will choose one set from the given problem. Then, they will multiply polynomials
to find the special product and represent the results with algebra tiles.
2. Students will create three different shapes and use three different colors. The size and
color of each shape are specified below:
a. 3 x 3-inch square shapes
it represents thex2
b. 3 x 1-inch rectangular shapes
it represents thex
c. 1 x 1-inch square shapes
it represents the CONSTANT

BLUE TILES
it represents POSITIVE numbers and terms
RED TILES
it represents NEGATIVE numbers and terms
