Determine the reactions at A and B?

We need to break down the load into 3 sections to 3 separate point loads. As such we will
need to find the load and the point of action for each. For this question, we will use point A
as the origin.

Locate the centroid of the shaded area about both x and y - axis

The first step is to solve the individual shape centroid loactions. After this, the centroid for
the total shape can be determined.

Triangle
Centroid – 𝑥, (1⁄3) ∗ 0.2 = 0.067𝑚 𝑦, (1⁄3) ∗ 0.15 = 0.05𝑚 ∴ 𝑥 = 0.067𝑚, 𝑦 = 0.25𝑚
Area – 0.5 ∗ 0.2 ∗ 0.15 = 0.015𝑚2

Square
Centroid – 𝑥, 𝑦 (0.2⁄2) = 0.1𝑚 ∴ 𝑥 = 0.1𝑚, 𝑦 = 0.1𝑚
Area – 0.2 ∗ 0.2 = 0.04𝑚2

Circle
Centroid – 𝑥, 𝑦 (0.1⁄2) = 0.05𝑚 ∴ 𝑥 = 0.1𝑚, 𝑦 = 0.1𝑚
Area – 𝜋 ∗ 0.052 = 0.0078𝑚2
𝑥𝑖 ∗ 𝐴𝑖 0.067 ∗ 0.015 + 0.1 ∗ 0.04 − 0.1 ∗ 0.0078
