SIGNIFICANCE OF NUMBER 18
:

The Bhagavatgita is essence of the

Mahabharata .
The Mahabharatha is the essence of all the
scriptures such as Vedas
,Upanishads,puranas,etc..
The Mahabhatatha contains more than
1,00,000 slokas in 18 parvas.
The Bhagavatgita which is the essence of
Mahabharata contains in 18 chapters(700
slokas).
The Mahabharata war went on for 18 days.
(A):
18 Akshouhinis Senas (7 belongs to
pandavas,11 belongs to kauravas) participated
in kuruksetra-war:

Each Akshouhini Sena(a unit of army) contain:

* Elephants =>21870*18=>(2+1+8+7+0)=>(gives
18)
* Chariots =>21870*18=>(2+1+8+7+0)=>(gives
18)
* Horses=>65610(6+5+6+1+0) =>(gives 18)
* Foot
soldiers=>109350*18=>1+0+9+3+5+0(gives 18)

Dhuryodhana mentioned 18 heroes on

pandava’s side
18 heroes in pandava’s side blew their conches

This Mahabharata has to be studied mainly

from psychological,historical and spiritual stand
point.
This Mahabharata war has to be understood in
a metaphorical manner.

Our physical body is itself considered as
kurukshetra .
All the pandavas represent good qualities.
The kouravas represent bad qualities.

knowledge,devotion,dispassion ..etc=>(10)
Arjuna stands for
Sravana(listening),Manana(cogitation),Dyana(c
ontemplation/meditation)=>(3)
Nakula and Sahadeva stand for Sheela(Good
conduct) and Vinaya(Obedient)=>(2)
Draupadi stands for VedaVidya(knowledge of
vedas)=>(1)
Krishna (Veda Vedya(known))=>(1)

*Dritarashtra stands for Avidya(ignorance)

*Gandhari(always attached to Dharma)
*Kunthi represents courage
*Vidhura represents for Wisdom
*Bheeshma and Dhronacharya
,Krupachatya,Ashwathamacharya ,shalya
stands for senseorgans.
*Dhushyasana represents adverse
knowledge(Viparita Gnanam)
*Dhuryadana(arrogance)
*Shakuni (stands for atheism(non belief of
god))

There is constant war between the good and

vice(criminal activities/qualities).
We are always pulled by this characters in our
daily life .
Most of the time we are unable to decide what
is good and what is bad.
In our life victory of good quaility is victory of
ours.
If dhuryodana wins we fail in our life(we will be
defeated in life).
Therfore we have to make sure that in life also
Righteousness is ultilately victorious.(As
Dharmaraja was crowned )

This physical body is made out of :Pancha
bhootas(5 gross elements) such as
earth,water,energy,space,air.

(1-5th ) We have 5 organs of perceptions(sense

organs) –jnanendriyas
(6-10th) 5 organs of panchakarmendriyas
16th is jeeva(in soul)residing in body.
17th is Prakriti(nature) which is also called
Mulaprakriti(there are 2 types
:Chitprakriti(conscious Prakriti,Mahalakshmi)
and Achitprakriti(unconscious entity))
Inert(Jada)
18th is God(Sri krishna)-Jeevathma,The ultimate
goal to be reached is by the (seakers) of
spirituality
