CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION
Organic fertilizer is made through the process of fermentation and

decomposition of natural and organic materials such as banana peel, egg shells,

cartoon egg tray, leftover vegetables, soil. Organic fertilizer are naturally available

mineral sources that contain moderate amount of plant essential nutrients. They are

capable of mitigating problems associated with synthetic fertilizers. They reduce the

necessity of repeated application of synthetic fertilizers to maintain soil fertility.

Fertilizers additional substance supplied to the crops to increase their productivity.

These are used by the farmers daily to increase crop yield. These fertilizers contain

essential nutrients required by the plants. Organic fertilizer improves the structure of

the soil that makes the plants stronger. It is safe and easy to apply and it's budget

friendly as natural resources are just available around us. Organic fertilizer is safe to

use because they provide nutrients into the plants which it helps the plants grow

more healthy and strong.

Fertilizers are essential these days because fertilizers replace the nutrients that

crops remove from the soil. Without the addition of fertilizers, crop yields and

agricultural productivity would be significantly reduced. That’s why we researchers

will be producing a fertilizer to improve the growth of crops. Our fertilizer consists

of egg shells, leftover vegetables, carton egg trays and banana peels. We decompose

the said materials for one month. After a month of composing we see the amazing

result of our fertilizer. Organic fertilizers are naturally available mineral sources that

contain moderate amount of plant essential nutrients. They are capable of mitigating

problems associated with synthetic fertilizers. They reduce the necessity of repeated

application of synthetic fertilizers to maintain soil fertility. They gradually release

nutrients into the soil solution and maintain nutrient balance for healthy growth of

crop plants. They also act as an effective energy source of soil microbes which in turn

improve soil structure and crop growth. Organic fertilizers are generally thought to

be slow releasing fertilizers and they contain many trace elements. They are safer

alternatives to chemical fertilizers. However, the improper use of organic fertilizers

leads to over fertilization or nutrient deficiency in the soil. Hence, controlled release

of organic fertilizers is an effective and advanced way to overcome these impacts and

maintain sustainable agriculture yield.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The study's overarching goal is to learn how to make plants grow faster and

healthier. The goal of this research is to determine how using organic fertilizer affects

vegetable growth.

Specially is aims to solve the following problems and questions:

1.) Farmers' crops have been malnourished.

2.) The plants' unhealthy state/appearance.

3.) Are there changes to the growth of a fertilized plants?

HYPOTHESES OF THE STUDY

FERTILIZER EXPERIMENTATION, DATA ANALYSES, AND INTERPRETATION

FOR DEVELOPING FERTILIZATION RECOMMENDATIONS—EXAMPLES WITH
VEGETABLE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF OKRA PLANTS CROPS.

Fertilizer recommendations contain several important factors,

including fertilizer form, source, application timing, placement, and
management. Another important part of a fertilizer recommendation is the
amount of a particular nutrient to apply. The optimum fertilizer amount is
determined from extensive field experimentation conducted for several
months, at school garden of World Maritime Academy the locations for
experimental with several varieties, etc. Although rate is important, rate
should be considered as a part of the overall growth and development of plant
with fertilizer and controlled plants. This research are focuses on the research
principles behind determining the optimum rate of fertilizer, including
experimentation and interpreting research results for optimum growth and
development of the plants up to crop production and quality of harvest fruits
of plants. We use examples from research with vegetable crops in our garden .
How we interpret the results is as important as how we conducted the
research. The goal of research on fertilizer rate is to determine the amount of
fertilizer needed to achieve a commercial crop yield with sufficient quality
that is economically acceptable for the grower. These types of studies take a
slightly different approach depending on whether soil testing for the nutrient
in question is involved. For example, rate studies with nitrogen (N) on sandy
soils would not involve soil testing, but rate studies with phosphorus (P) or
potassium (K) would. In the case of N on sandy soils, the researcher assumes
there is minimal N supplied from the soil that would satisfy the crop nutrient
requirement. In the case of P or K, a properly calibrated soil test will reveal if a
response (yield and fruit quality) to the nutrient is likely or not.

E-mail: wmadgte@gmail.com

Rate studies are best conducted on soils low in the particular nutrient
so that maximum crop response is likely and that response can be modeled.
Proper experimental design and statistical data analyses are critical to interpretation
of the results. Research begins with a hypothesis or a set of hypotheses. One possible
hypothesis may be that there will be no effect on yield associated with N fertilization.
This hypothesis, called the null hypothesis, is evaluated with an experiment to test
crop yield response against a range of N rates in a field likely to produce a large
response to the addition of N fertilizer.
The researcher applies a range of fertilizer rates thought to capture the likely extent
of possible crop yield responses. A zero-fertilizer treatment is always included. Crop
response without an actual fertilizer application demonstrates and measures the soil-
supplied effects, if any. In some cases, sufficient nutrients, or at least a low portion of
the crop nutrient requirement, may come from the soil, while in other cases, nutrients
may come from the water.
The researcher may decide to divide the total seasonal amount of fertilizer into split-
applications, following what would likely be a recommended practice for the crop
being studied. Multiple applications avoid potential large losses of fertilizer because
of rainfall events, especially for nutrients that are mobile in the soil. Typically, all
treatment rates are handled similarly for timing and placement of the fertilizer to
minimize any confounding effects with rate.
During the growing season, the researcher may sample the plant for nutrient
concentrations, using whole dried leaves and/or fresh petiole sap. These samples
will help the researcher prove the response in yield was related to the plant's nutrient
status.

Typically, soil samples are not used because there is a chance of including a fertilizer
particle in the sample, or there may be questions of where to sample if the fertilizer is
applied by banding or through a drip tape. Photographs taken during the season are
useful for documenting both growth and potential plant deficiency symptoms.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Tropoulos, A. Fernandes, L. Barros, and I. C. R. (2018). Mediterranean okra

genotype chemical composition, nutritional value, and antioxidant qualities in

relation to harvest stage.

Substantial variations in both nutritional value and chemical composition indicators

were found between the genotype under study. The nutritional value of small fruit

was higher, although the chemical composition varied genotype-dependently, with

most of the examined cultivars performing better when collected in small sizes. The

common practice of harvesting okra fruit while they are still small helps to increase

nutritional value for most of the studied genotype. In conclusion, fruit size has a

genotype dependent impact on chemical composition and nutritional value of okra

pods.

The authors are Singh, A., Weisser, W. W., Hanna, R., Houmgny, R., and S. E.

Zytynska. (2017). Benefits of inter cropping at high densities for okra growers in

Cameroon include decreased pests and increased productivity.

Insect pest populations can be decreased via inter cropping. However, inter cropping

can have different effects on crop productivity and the effectiveness of pest control

depending on the species of pest and crop involved. Okra is a common vegetable

planted in inter cropped fields in Cameroon, where planting rows are spaced widely

apart (â14 2 m). White flies, leaf beetles, and cotton aphids are the main pests of okra.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This study focuses on the advantages and disadvantages of using organic

fertilizer that is concerned with the effects of the okra that the practical area is located

at the front of stem 12 room at world maritime academy and training center Inc. it is

an approach thinking of what organic fertilizer are like, how will it affect plants and

soil, and the benefits that organic fertilizer provides the students, particularly

farmers. For the information of my research project, the method that I used is

Qualitative Research. I gathered the survey to an individual backyard gardeners in

Maglinte, Zamboanguita and Bulak, Dauin Negros Oriental. Residence of barangay

Maglinte and Bulak are some backyard gardeners who can give information about

my Research Project and they are the ones who was capable to answer my survey

question. My survey is composed of 10 different question about organic and

inorganic fertilizer. Those question will serve as my survey reference material. Every

answers and opinions of those farmers will be gladly presented. Their opinions and

answers will be based on their experience as a hard working backyard gardeners.

Many respondents answer that the organic fertilizer is good because they

maintain the soil moisture. The advantage of organic fertilizer is it is very affordable

and you can to it/make it on your own. Some of the farmers are not focusing in

organic fertilizer its because of the land that they used for planting is not their own

land.

RESEARCH DESIGN

This research design of the study was Survey Research. Both qualitative and

quantitative research methods are used in this study. Quantitative research is the

process of gathering and interpreting numerical data. It can be used to identify

trends and averages, formulate hypotheses, examine causality, and extrapolate

findings to larger populations. The goal of qualitative research, on the other hand, is

to gain a thorough understanding of social phenomena in their natural environment.

Instead of concentrating on the "what," it emphasizes the "why" of social phenomena

and depends on the first-hand accounts of people to serve as the primary interpreters

of their daily experiences. Because a large number of samples are planted to test the

fertilizer's efficacy, the design is experimental and the data needed to complete this

study's objectives will be gathered through survey research. The study of parameters

influencing the efficacy of organic fertilizer using inexpensive resources forms the

foundation of the research. The following reasons led to the decision to use survey

research as opposed to alternative research designs: first, survey research offers an

appropriate instrument for gathering a lot of data. Also, it offered a useful structure

for assembling a sizable sample of composing groups, and survey research provide

very reliable results.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

The questionnaire will be used in this study by the researcher. The questionnaire

is a list of questions that have been meticulously prepared to be answered by a group

of individuals and is intended to gather data and facts. Researchers developed a set

of questions that they will use to collect data from the research's necessary

examination. The survey question is a method for gathering information on organic

fertilizer. When applying organic fertilizers, the reply is obliged to offer accurate

information. The reply will present evidence that this organic fertilizer can deliver

precise nutrients to plants and can encourage plant growth.

INTERPETATION:
This table 1 shows exemplifying the growth of okra plants from seedlings to
sprouts. Table 1 depicts the development of okra plants from seedlings to sprouts.
After one week, the seeds of the okra plants began to grow by 12 centimeters, and I
can also see that the seeds that did not receive fertilizer are still dormant. As a result,
after only one week, I can already see that the organic fertilizer we created is
effective. In weeks 2 to 4, the okra plant with fertilizer looks fresh and grows about
27.4 cm, whereas the control plant shows only minor changes in height, growing 1cm
per week. In week 5, the experimental plant grows 31.5 cm and the leaf is healthy
looking regardless of the fact, meanwhile the control plant only grows 25.3 cm and is
thick looking.

INTERPRETATION:
This table shows the centimeter-by-centimeter effect of organic fertilizer on okra

plants. Organic fertilizer treatment significantly increased the leaf area of the okra

plant under field conditions. Organic fertilizer application over control indicated that

organic fertilizer influenced sufficient nutrient uptake by the plants, resulting in

higher yield. Organic fertilizer can more efficiently use the existing resources,

resulting in improved plant growth and dry matter accumulation. The okra plant

began to flower between 6 and 10 weeks and grew 3-5 feet, while the control plant

only grew 2-3 feet.

INTERPRETATION:
The implementation of organic and has influence on the performance of okra

in terms of leaf length, stem diameter, fruit length, basal fruit diameter, and number

of fruits per plant. Based on the findings of this experiment, it could be deduced that

organic fertilizer promotes higher growth and yield of okra. Table 3 demonstrates

that the experimental plants grow to 5-10 feet whereas the control plants only grow

to 3-6 feet.

Crops react to our integration in a variety of areas throughout the entire

production chain to which they are exposed. Research on crop integration over

multiple seasons as well as a precursor contributor to fertilizer nutrients was

performed in a single session. for instance, high in vitamins A and C. from a

dwelling in crop soil. Based on experimental display variation, the individual result.

That is displayed on the aforementioned various tables. Modifying plant height form

and technique in initial formats and having computations for the harvesting of okra

fruits on a weekly and monthly basis. Additionally, we display in our table the

plant's life duration. There is a fee when the okra plants are mature and old, but we

can then display the format alteration of the aforementioned plants, which will

modify my data as well as the season that our researchers choose to plant in order to

account for the local climate. The hypothesis for the transmission process has

received the most feedback from my research's experimental data. I want to

emphasize how helpful organic fertilizer is for farming production. Experiments

serve as the foundation for our argument that organic fertilizer is the most practical

and straightforward to develop.

The regulated release of organic fertilizers is a cutting-edge and efficient

technique to mitigate these effects and keep the output of sustainable

agriculture.fertilizer applications to maintain soil fertility. The nutrients are

gradually released. One application of the % in numerical analysis was to determine

the ratio of each sex range in the population to the overall population.

- The formula provided is used to determine the percentage of each set of given data.

%=(F/N)x100

The percentage used in the questions given to farmers and gardeners was

determined by their individual perceptions of the fertilizer they used. Organic

fertilizers decompose to strengthen the soil's fundamental structure and extend the

duration that it can hold onto water and vital nutrients. Regular and proper use of

these organic fertilizers over time can produce robust, healthy plants. Advantages of

using organic fertilizers.

Organic fertilizers have multiple advantages for growers:

Improved airy soil structure;

Healthier soil and more fertile;

Longer period available for crops than chemical fertilizers;

Environmentally friendly;

Easy to use The biggest disadvantage of using an organic fertilizer is that it may

not contain primary nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorous or potassium, also known

as NPK. Manure-based fertilizers contain these nutrients and are still considered

organic. However, many others don't contain significant quantities of NPK.The

tables from 1–5 will be used to provide solutions for every issue. Show the significant

differences in the values, averages, and change in each table. In addition, I strongly

advise using organic fertilizer and environmentally friendly fertilizer when engaging

in farming. The okra plant study is the shoulder point by gathering data from

various tables. It is thought to be important for agricultural income, healthy crop

production, and the promotion of high-quality fruit and vegetable production.

SYNTHESIS

It has been discovered that using organic fertilizers to encourage plant

growth and health is both efficient and sustainable. These fertilizers are created using

organic substances that are rich in the nutrients plants need to thrive, such as

compost, animal manure, and plant waste. One benefit of using organic fertilizers is

that they are inexpensive and may be manufactured from leftover, easily accessible

resources. Organic fertilizers have been found to be an effective and sustainable way

to promote plant growth and health. These fertilizers are made from natural

materials such as animal manure, compost, and plant residues, which are rich in

essential nutrients for plant growth. One of the advantages of using organic

fertilizers is that they are low cost and can be made from excess materials that are

readily available. Studies have shown that organic fertilizers can improve soil

structure, increase water retention, and enhance nutrient availability, leading to

better plant growth, increased yield, and improved crop quality.

CONCLUSION

The environment and crops both gain greatly from using organic fertilizers. It

is possible to get the conclusion that organic fertilizers can enhance soil health and

structure, boost crop output, and lower greenhouse gas emissions based on scientific

studies and trials. After performing study and evaluating data, it can be said that

organic fertilizer is a viable option for agricultural purposes. Overall, organic

fertilizers are a sustainable and ecologically beneficial solution for agriculture. Due to

its natural composition, organic fertilizer is better for the environment and has

benefits such as increasing soil quality and boosting plant development. Numerous

studies have revealed that organic fertilizers improve soil structure, increase soil's

ability to store water, encourage beneficial microbial activity, and give crops vital

nutrients. Accordingly, it can be inferred from the data that organic fertilizers are a

practical and efficient choice for fostering healthy and long-lasting plant growth.

RECOMMENDATION
Given that plant undernourishment in some aspects is agricultural farming, it is

useful to apply some knowledge of making a good organic fertilizer to understand

the importance of healthy plants in daily life. Organic fertilizer helps the farmers,

teachers, students, parents, and the people in a community for future use. This

research study suggests that organic fertilizer is better than other kinds of fertilizer

for some reasons.

First, They don't make a crust on the soil as inorganic fertilizers sometimes do.

They improve water movement into the soil and, in time, add structure to the soil.

Organics feed beneficial microbes, making the soil easier to work. But they may cost

more than chemical, or inorganic fertilizers, because they are less concentrated,

supplying fewer nutrients pound for pound. But one goal of this study is to teach the

reader in how to make organic fertilizer using very low-cost and excess materials at

home. We recommend our own made organic fertilizer because first of all it is very

affordable, very easy to make and the materials can be found in your home but it

takes time.

APPENDICES

This study is being done for educational purposes to gather information from

farmers or other knowledge agricultural professionals to learn more about how to

use organic fertilizers and what effects it has on plants. I want them to share their

opinions on how to use fertilizers or organic fertilizers. This survey helps us to

increase our knowledge instead of just doing research on Google or other website but

rather by directly asking those knowledgeable about agriculture.

Questionnaire of a farmers survey of fresh fruits and vegetables

Two advice's for the interviewer to consider

1. The interviewers has to inform the farmers before starting the survey that their

answers will be anonymize. They may, at any time, withdraw their participation,

including the withdrawal of any information they have provided. If they complete

the interview, however, it will be understood that they have consented to

participate in this research and agree to the publications of the overall results of

this research with the understanding that anonymity of the interviewers will be

taken into account.

2. Furthermore, the interviewer has to be aware that some questions in this

questionnaire have extra information that are italicized in brackets. Thus the

interviewer should only read this extra information if the questions are not clear for

the interviewees.

APPENDIX

CONCLUSION- A conclusion is the last part of something, its end or result. When

you write a paper, you always end by summing up your arguments and drawing

a conclusion about what you've been writing about.

GENOTYPE- A genotype is a scoring of the type of variant present at a given

location in the genome. It can be represented by symbols. For example, BB, Bb, bb

could be used to represent a given variant in a gene.

HYGIENIC- conducive to good health; healthful; sanitary.

RECOMMENDATION-a suggestion or proposal as to the best course of action,

especially one put forward by an authoritative body.

REFERENCES-It also uses the ideas and research of other sources: books,

journal articles, websites, and so forth. These other sources may be used to support

the author's ideas, or the author may be discussing, analysing, or critiquing other

sources.

NITROGEN- a nonmetallic chemical element that under standard conditions is a

colorless, odorless, inert gas, that constitutes 78 percent of the Earth's atmosphere,

and that is used especially in the industrial synthesis of ammonia, as a component of

inert atmospheres, and in liquid form as a refrigerant.

PHOSPHOROUS-the chemical element of atomic number 15, a poisonous,

combustible nonmetal which exists in two common allotrope forms, white

phosphorus, a yellowish waxy solid which ignites spontaneously in air and glows in

the dark, and red phosphorus, a less reactive form used in making matches.

POTASSIUM- Potassium is the chemical element with the symbol K (from

Neo-Latin kalium) and atomic number 19. It is a silvery white metal that is soft

enough to easily cut with a knife. Potassium metal reacts rapidly with atmospheric

oxygen to form flaky white potassium peroxide in only seconds of exposure. It was

first isolated from potash, the ashes of plants, from which its name derives.

SEDENTARY- characterized by or requiring a sitting posture.

MICROBES- a microorganism, especially a pathogenic bacterium.

SYNTHETIC FERTILIZER- Synthetic fertilizers are chemicals that mimic the

natural process of photosynthesis. When used in agriculture, they provide nutrients

to plants in an artificial form instead of from the soil. Synthetic fertilizers are made

up of three major ingredients: nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

TREATMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE

As a researcher, I investigate potential experimental treatments as well

as treatment combinations and additions because there are natural variations in the

area where my research will be done. The field has a naturally occurring difference in

the soil's organic matter, pH, or moisture, all of which have something to do with the

application of nitrogen (N). The idea of probability is to see how the yield naturally

varies from plot to plot. I identified the variability as the point at which correctly

designed statistical analysis of the data that helps to identify variations between two

sets of plants and replication of my experiment.
