FROM AC, RICTMD

SUBJECT : Cyber Security Advisoryl Summer Vacation Cyber Security

Tips

DATE April 24, 2023

1. Reference: Memorandum from AD, ITMS dated April 19,2A23 with subject
same as above.

2. As summer comes, individuals look forward to taking a break from their

typical routine and going on vacation. However, it is critical not to neglect the
significance of cyber security at this time.

3. During the summer, cyber-attacks can happen, which can put a person's
personal and financial information at danger. Cybercriminals are also watching
everyone's activity during their holiday and are only waiting for the right moment to
launch their attack.

4. ln light of the above, the lnformation Technology Management Service

recommends the following ways to stay safe online during the summer vacation:
a. Take care of what you share and post on social media. Posting
particular facts such as your location and vacation plans can leave you
more vulnerable to cyber-attacks;

b. Stay away from public charging stations. Cybercriminals have devised

a method to exploit USB ports to install malware and monitoring
software on a user's device;

c. When utilizing public WLFi networks, use a Virtual Private Network

(VPN) to encrypt your internet connection and prevent others from
intercepting your data;

d. Avoid utilizing public Wi-Fi for sensitive tasks like online banking or
logging into personal or work-related accounts;

a Disable automatic Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity to keep your device

from connecting to unprotected networks or devices;

f. To prevent illegal access, use a passcode, PlN, or biometric
authentication to lock your devices;

g. Make a backup of critical data on your devices in case they are lost,
stolen, or destroyed; and

h. Keep your devices and software up to date to avoid hackers exploiting

known vulnerabilities in your system.
