Worked Example
In an apartment complex, there are 7 windows in each apartment, and 5
apartments on each floor. How many windows are there on 3 floors?
Let’s start!

Multiply the numbers in the story to find the total number of windows.

7 × 5 × 3 = 105

Carry the 1!
7 35
× 5 3 multiplied by 3 is
Times tables! 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑛 … × 1 3 9 and add 1 is 10.
35 105

There are 105 windows.

liquorice. How many pieces of liquorice did they eat in all?

Question 3:
Mary Poppins earns €6 an hour babysitting. She babysits 3
hours every day. After babysitting for 3 days, how much
money will Mary Poppins have earned?
