Reading Project - Professional Collection

For your final project, you will compile a list of professional resources that you can use as you
continue your college career and enter into your professional career.

1. Go to weebly.com.

a. Create your personal, student account using your personal email address and a

password of your choice.

b. Take a picture of your login / password. It is not my responsibility to keep your account

information.

c. Create your weebly domain name: firstnamemiddleinitiallastname (PeterJPettigrew).

d. Post your weebly address to the assignment tab on Blackboard.

2. Add your picture and complete your About Me paragraph and a paragraph about your goals.

3. Locate 1 of each of the following sources and post the URL (except for f and g) on your Weebly:

a. Your Degree plan from the college you wish to graduate from / your career from the

Occupational Outlook Handbook – Post the URL for both. Read two of the tabs on your

Occupational Outlook Handbook. Write a summary for them.

b. Goals paragraph – post on Degree page

c. A professional journal – Google for professional (peer reviewed journals) journals in

your area. Post the title to your Weebly. Locate a recent article and complete the

MANIC and works cited entry for it. Post the assignment to your Weebly.

d. A popular journal – Locate a recent article that is related to your career field. Complete

the MANIC and works cited entry for it. Post the Assignment to your Weebly.

e. A TedTalk by a professional in your area – Complete an Annotated Bibliography. Post

the URL and title of the podcast.

f. A podcast – Post the URL and title of the podcast. Listen to one episode. Create an

annotated bibliography.
g. Your support team – Write a paragraph about your support team. If you have pictures,

feel free to post them.

4. Complete a MANIC (use the form provided) for:

a. An article from the professional journal, include the article

b. An article from a popular journal

MANIC GUIDELINES
For each question, locate a passage from the source and copy it here.
Follow the passage with your explanation of 3-4 sentences.

 What was most Interesting?"
 " What is most Confusing?"

5. Complete the Annotated Bibliography for the Ted Talk and podcast:

Annotated Bib format: 1” margins, double spaced lines, Times New Roman 12, no heading.
Add page number in this format: Last name page. Upper right corner – set as a header.
Alphabetize sources by first word on works cited.

Works Cited Entry (MLA or APA) Follow with a paragraph that contains:

 1st sentence – summary of article


 2nd Sentence – summary of article
 3rd sentence – What do you know about the author
 4th sentence – What do you know about the source?
 5th/6th sentence – Recent publication?/biased?/source work within the article?
 7th /8th sentence – Is this a reliable source that will benefit your paper? Explain.

6. Complete a reflection about what you have gained from this information. Post to your
Weebly.
a. 2-3 pages in length
b. MLA, Times New Roman 12 pt, 1” margins, double space lines
c. Introduction – 3-4 sentences
d. Body paragraph – Reflect upon your semester – the classes you have taken, the
opportunities beyond the classroom you’ve embraced, and the self-care you practice –
all that you have actually done – not ideally done. Minimum of 10 sentences.
e. Body paragraph about information that is available in your career field. What were you
surprised about? What do you want to know more about? Are there adequate
resources to guide you? Are you reconsidering your career option? Minimum of 8
sentences.
f. What about your support from your institution, your people? What other elements of
support do you need? Minimum of 6 sentences.
g. Conclusion – 3-4 sentences
