The two different type in this world is the proactive and reactive people,

3. What are the differences between the two types of people? (p.83)
Proactive people are the ones who take responsibility and make things happen. Reactive people
are those who blame others and who get happened to.

4. What drink does Sean Covey compare reactive people to? Why? (p.84)
Sean compares reactive people to Cola because their choices are based on impulse. “They are
like a can of soda pop. If life shakes them up a bit, the pressure builds and they suddenly
explode.”

Sean compares proactive people to water because they make their choices based on values.
“They think before they act... Shake them up all you want, take off the lid, and nothing.”

Reactive language takes power away from you and gives to someone else. “When you’re
reactive it’s like giving someone else the remote control to your life.”

Proactive people are a different breed because:
- Are not easily offended
- Take responsibility for their choices
- Think before they act
- Bounce back when something bad happens
- Always find a way to make it happen
- Focus on things they can do something about, and don’t worry about things they can’t

People believe a “can do” attitude is being pushy, aggressive, obnoxious, stretch the rules and
make their own laws.

A real “can do” attitude is being courageous, persistent, smart, creative, enterprising, and
extremely resourceful.

The button you should press is the “pause” button because you’ll make smarter decisions.
