In collaboration with colleagues and school administrators to plan
team-based professional learning aligned with content standards and linked
to the California State ELA and Math Kindergarten Standards, Katelyn met
with her TK/K Team first to determine their highest needs to ensure their
support.

She made sure she met the needs of all of her adult learners and their
learning needs by providing various approaches to her delivery style

Through learning about Adult Learning Principles, Kaitlyn involved the

teachers in planning and evaluating their instruction of her Starfall
presentation. She was highly influential in her approach to providing a
supportive learning environment to her staff members, allowing them to
ask questions and respond. The staff left her presentation with learning
relevant to their daily teaching and ready to implement it.

In preparation for her presentation, Katelyn did her homework by asking

presentation skills. Taking this advice, she used it wisely in her teaching. She
kept her presentation simple, direct, and concise while using plenty of

Analysis and Summary of Audience Assessment
Directions: Record assessment data into Assessment Data Table (see end of document). Include copies of assessment tool with submission. Include at least one graph in your summary.

After reviewing my Google Survey Form Assessment I found that my presentation was successful. My audience prior to the start of my
presentation felt that they had a satisfactory understanding of Starfall, and reported at the end of my presentation that they had excellent
skill/knowledge of Starfall. They also all reported that they had either a very good understanding or excellent undertsanidng of how to
incorporate Starfall into their classrooms which was the main goal of my presentation. It was reported by all the reviewers that I was an
effective lecturer, that the presentation was clear/ organized, and that I stimulated peer interest. Between my mentor teachers review and the
rest of the kindergarten teams review I feel very confident that my presentation was successful. The audience assessment shows my success
with both a contribution to learning as well as my skills and responsiveness as an instructor. I also know through the use of progress monitoring
questions embedded in my presentation that the teachers can effectively incorporate Starfall into their daily routines.
Action Items (some may not be applicable)
I can include Starfall into my lesson plans more frequently as a whole class activity by using the word

practice every day.
I would like to create a guide to which extension activities my students should be focusing on while on

after completing their work, but I would like to have a way for them to work on specific activities after a
lesson that reinforces the lesson's standards and concepts.

For teaching English learners, students There are many ways to scaffold Starfall worksheets which is something I plan to incorporate into my
with special needs, and students with morning work. Including examples, visuals, and traceable activities in my morning work, allows all students
other instructional challenges, to work independently. The website activities are also scaffolded, which I would work into my guide.
For future professional development, I plan to expand my presentation to the upper grades by creating a
For future professional development new presentation for first, second, and third grade as well as fourth and fifth grade. I would need to adapt
my current presentation to include appropriate standards and activities.
For supporting others/department/ By expanding my professional development to the upper grades, I am supporting the other departments, the
school/district school, and the district. I can share my presentation and resources through our shared Google Drive.
I would like to continue to learn more about Starfall and explore more into their paid curriculum books which
Other our district does not currently pay for. Some of our current curriculum is not being used by all of the
kindergarten teachers and Starfall could possibly be a better way to spend district money.
Other Notes and Comments
I thought my presentation was successful and highlighted key standards many kindergarten students and teachers struggle with. Sight words,
CVC words, letter sounds, and numbers are all very important California State Standards that can be reinforced through the use of Starfall.
Supplemental activities are necessary, especially for student engagement. I also felt that the inclusion of all of the California State ELA and
Math Standards was extremely beneficial to the teachers because they can see how to best support their students in meeting their learning
goals.
Include copy of Google Survey Form assessment tool.
