LAB ON CHIP -DNA SEQUENCING

The objectives of the chip are

1. Facilitate the reaction for DNA sequencing process

2. Capture and save the reaction of DNA sequencing process in a video format
3. Share the video of DNA sequencing process

A) For Facilitation of DNA sequencing reaction, the sequencing chip should have the following
features:
1. Rectangular profile of dimensions 2”x3”, with silicon as base material
2. Presence of cylindrical wells of 5 micrometer diameter and the depth of 5 micrometer
3. Gap between two consecutive wells should be 3 micrometers row wise and 2
micrometers column wise
4. Base of the wells should be covered by transparent material like acrylic/silicon
5. Each row of wells should have 9500 wells and each column should have 7250 wells
6. The chip should be self-heating (up to 100 deg) embedded with heating element

B) For capturing the DNA sequencing process, following are the features
1. The sequencing process should be captured by a separate chip called the embedded
chip, which is of the size of 2”x3”
2. The chip should have an array of micro-cameras embedded in it.
3. The embedded chip should be placed below the sequencing chip.
4. Each micro camera in the chip should be able to focus at least 600 wells in a single frame
5. Each micro camera should be able to capture the light emanating from the wells of the
sequencing chip and record the sequence of the lights in the form of video.
6. This embedded chip should be rigidly aligned over the sequencing chip and should not
be detachable
7. The video recorded by the embedded chip should be saved in a separate detachable SD
card
8. The embedded micro camera chip should have a line smd UV led, the chip should be
hydrophobic, and heat resistant chip

C) The chip unit (that consists of sequencing chip and embedded chip) should be able to
interface with microprocessor boards such as raspberry pi

D) The chip unit should be washable with alcohol
