PRINTMAKING

Student name: __________________________________________ Class: ____________________

Relief printmaking is done by carving into one surface, covering the carved surface with
paint or ink, then pressing a paper onto the inked plate.

STEP 1 Get a plate. A plate is the thing you will draw

your picture on.

STEP 2 Draw you picture onto the plate with a dull

pencil. This will make an indentation on the
plate.

STEP 3 Use markers or water soluble oil pastels to

color onto your print plate.

STEP 4 Spray your paper two times and then wipe

with your hand.

STEP 5 Place your paper damp-side down onto the

print plate. Rub gently. Peel off to reveal your
print.
