(Subject)

INSTITUTIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Vision
The College of Saint Lawrence will position itself as one of the leading institutions in providing
the highest standard of quality and affordable education to our students, to recognize and enjoy
financial and economic benefits and to develop responsible citizens of our society.
Mission
 To strictly implement the Manual of Operation and Course Syllabus as prescribed by the
Department of Education (DepEd), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority
(TESDA) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
 To establish targets and objectives for all members of the Faculty and Students and provide
mechanisms to check its strict implementation.
 To update and revise the said Manuals periodically to ensure its relevance and effectiveness.
 To involve and consult with parents in making relevant decisions in the affairs and education of
our students.
 To provide students with a balanced educational experience through formal education and
actual apprenticeship in various establishments so that all acquired theories, ideas, concepts
and skills shall be blended well with practical work application and proper attitude.
 To focus the development program of Science and Technology in the field of Business,
Education, Electronics, Computer and Information Technology.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course deals with the professional conduct and ethical standards expected among criminologist in view of the conduct of
criminological research, law enforcement work, public safety, forensic science, criminalistics, and crime investigation. It also
includes in the professional conduct and ethical standards for court witnesses and correctional officers in dealing with offenders in
view of their welfare, development and reintegration.

DETAILED COURSE OUTLINE:

At the end of the course and given relevant situations/conditions, the students will be able to:

1. Articulate the code of conduct for researchers in the preparation of criminological research and related outputs on crimes, crime
causation victims and offenders to include deviant behavior.
2. Appraise the professional conduct and ethical standards in view of human rights and victim welfare in a given scenario.
3. Demonstrate competence and broad understanding of professional conducts and ethical standards in law enforcement, public
safety and criminal justice.
4. Apply ethics and professional conduct in the applied sciences of investigation and detection of crime.
5. Demonstrate code of ethics for witnesses and law enforcers in a court room set-up.
6. Discuss the proper conduct in dealing with criminal offenders in a correctional set- up in view of their welfare, development and
reintegration.
7. Collaborate ethically, effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
8. Apply professional, social and ethical standards in the study of criminal justice.
