Our topic for today is all about inferring


speaker’s Mood.

Mood is defined as the overall feelings, or


atmosphere, of a text often created by the
author’s use of imagery and word choice.
Some common moods are cheerful, joyful,
romantic, helpful, mysterious, gloomy, excited
or scared. It creates feelings the author
hopes the reader will experience.
On the other hand, creates an emotional
setting for a reader/listener. It can be
conveyed through the story elements like the
setting and theme. Like tone, mood can
evoke feelings of happiness, sadness, and
excitement, among others, on
readers/listeners.

Example:

Suddenly, a man appeared in front of her.
