The filter and ventilation unit operates on external air sucked with fans and pumped into the cab.
The fans (12, Fig. 4.4C) sucked air passes through the air intake profiled catches (5) and strainer
(11) where it undergoes the initial purification from contamination and dust. The fans produced air
at designed positive pressure is then pumped into the shutoff valves subunit (13). Now, the air,
depending on the position of the valve throttle will be piped to the cab in a clean ventilation mode
or through the filter combined with an absorber (15) when operating in the filtering and ventilating
mode. The cardboard filter that makes part of the filter combined with an absorber will stop dust
and solid and liquid aerosols. The absorbent that fills the absorber will suck in vapors and gasses
of toxic substances. The cleaned air leaving the filter combined with an absorber is piped with an
air outlet tube (3, Fig. 4.4A) to the operator’s cab.
Regardless the unit operation mode stepless air outlet control is possible due to integrated
electronics’ control (17, Fig. 4.4C) as well as the control instrument panel controls (Fig. 4.4D).

4.6.4. FILTER AND VENTILATION UNIT

In the compactor version of the machine the air filter has been replaced with the filter and
ventilation unit located behind the operator’s cab (Fig. 4.4A). The unit is to be ON regardless
whether the air conditioner is OFF or ON.

4.6.4.1. HOW TO PUT THE FILTER AND VENTILATION UNIT TO OPERATION

To put the filter and ventilation unit into operation proceed as detailed below:
- Seal the cab closing all functional openings (doors, windows, laps etc.);
- Turn the machine electrical system ON (the electrical system master switch ON);
- Provide power to the filter and ventilation unit control instrument panel. To do it, turn the
switch (4, Fig. 4.4E), to its upper position “ZAŁ”; the yellow LED (6) will come on. The three
position switch (5) is to be in its center position “0”;
- Observe the digital display panel (2) for readings. It is to display “0C”, to signal the cab
positive pressure 0 [Pa]. With the filter and ventilation unit inoperative the control instrument
panel positive pressure reading is to range between 0 and 10 [Pa].

DRESSTA 534E-LA
SECTION 4 OPERATING
Page 8

4.6.4.2. FILTER AND VENTILATION UNIT OPERATION IN VENTILATION ONLY MODE

To activate the ventilation only mode (the filter and absorber bypassed) proceed as follows:
- Turn the control instrument panel switch (5, Fig. 4.4.E) to its lower position “WENT”;
- Use the knob (3) “WYDATEK” to adjust the air output. Turn the knob to the right to
increase in a stepless way the air output; this should cause the raise of the sealed cab
positive pressure;
- Use your hearing to decide whether the unit operates correctly or not and check if the cab
is provided with adjusted quantity of the air;
- Determine the cab positive pressure. Use the readings of the digital display (2) at the panel
to do this.
To deactivate the ventilation only mode turn the control instrument panel switch (5) to its center
position 0.

4.6.4.3. FILTER AND VENTILATION UNIT OPERATION IN FILTER

AND VENTILATION MODE

To activate the filter and ventilation mode (the filter and absorber in use) proceed as follows:
- Turn the control instrument panel switch (5, Fig. 4.4.E) to its upper position “FILTR”.
The yellow LED (7) will come on that signals the unit operates in the filter and ventilation mode.
At the same time the fans drive will cut out for about 20 [sec], the time needed to readjust the
valving.

Once the time span elapsed the fans will automatically be on;
- Use the knob (3) “WYDATEK” to adjust the air output as outlined above. Determine the cab
positive pressure. Use the readings of the digital display (2) at the panel to do this. If the
positive pressure reading is above 250 [Pa] for example, the green LED LC (8) will come on. If
the positive pressure reading is below the set value, the red LED LC (9) will come on. The fans
will activate automatically with maximum output. At this stage knob (3) cannot adjust the air
output. The red LED LC (9) will come off when the cab positive pressure is above the aimed
value – set at the digital display panel.

To deactivate the filter and ventilation mode turn the control instrument panel switch (5) to its
center position “0”.

4.17. LANDFILL COMPACTOR OPERATION TECHNIQUE

CAUTION: Do not open equipment (bucket, blade) when raised to its limit. The
operation is unjustified and can cause the equipment hydraulic system damage.
Blade tilt when raised its protected with bumpers (1, Fig. 4.58) to avoid equipment
damage.

The Landfill Compactor operates by leveling loose soil or trash piles at the dumping ground and by
compacting (pressing up) the subsoil coupled with the subsoil fragmentation as a result of the
Landfill Compactor forth and back repeated travel.
The pins penetrate deep into the loose subsoil during the subsoil compacting with drums.
Repeated forth and back machine travel results in slighter pins impact traces with the end result
being compacted working surface. The Landfill Compactor is to make repeated forth and back
travel till the compacted layer undergoes no substantial thickness change.
While working on sanitary dumping grounds prior trash distribution is recommended to a layer
thickness of 0.5 [m] maximum. Resultant Landfill Compactor performance will be at its peak.
Fig. 4.58A depicts Landfill Compactor work pattern resulting in subsoil superior quality surface
compacting.
Following travel operational dependent characteristics can be recommended:
a/ blade fragmentation - 1 gear
b/ subsoil compacting - 2 gear /maximum available travel velocity/
