that happiness was not too frequent or too excessive. If this
happened, Nemesis could bring about losses and suffering.
MEDUSA
Shyrine B. Ladia Medusa is one of the more unusual divine figures of ancient
Greek mythology. One of a trio of Gorgon sisters, Medusa
was the only sister who was not immortal. She is famed for
her snake-like hair and her gaze, which turns those who look
at her to stone. Medusa was seduced by Poseidon in a
temple to Athena, and in revenge, Athena turned Medusa's
beautiful head of hair into snakes. As she was both mortal
and had the ability to turn men to stone, Perseus was sent to
cut off her head.
Persephone

PERSEPHONE was the goddess queen of the underworld,
wife of the god Haides (Hades). She was also the goddess of
spring growth, who was worshipped alongside her mother
Demeter in the Eleusinian Mysteries. This agricultural-based
cult promised its initiates passage to a blessed afterlife.

Persephone was titled Kore (Core) (the Maiden) as the


goddess of spring's bounty.
