SUBJECT: Learning Adaptions in the Classroom

Recently, an important issue has come up regarding how we should be teaching in our classes. I’m writing

to inform you that we will be making changes in the way we proceed with educating our students.

As stated by Google, natural talent is defined as “an innate or inborn gift for a specific activity, either

allowing one to demonstrate some immediate skill without practice, or to gain skill rapidly with minimal

practice.” We have gone through our teaching paths assuming everyone has a natural talent for our class,

but this is becoming an incorrect approach. A recent article came out a few years ago, from Macquarie

University, stating, “Everyone learns differently, so what good teachers will do is recognize those

differences and change the way they present the information to meet the needs of learners” (Macquarie

University, 2020). This is the stance we will be incorporating more into our curriculum and classrooms.

We have decided to adapt our teaching styles to fit more individualized learning environments, which will

lead to better understanding for our students. By recognizing each student’s specific ability in the topic,

we can better assist them on their learning journey and get rid of the idea everyone is at the same level of

knowledge.

SUBJECT: Trick of the Trade Workshop

Hello, staff and students, I would like to let you all know about an important resource we are offering. As

you know, learning comes with many challenges and obstacles along the way. We recently held a meeting

to discuss possible solutions to the discouragement of students.

We will be offering Trick of the Trade Workshops every month. These events will consist of

experimenting with different tricks that may help you succeed in the learning paths you are pursuing. The

research website, The Lighthouse, wrote in an article about learning, “Some people will learn the trick that

helps them progress to the next stage very quickly because of their natural affinity; others could take

much longer” (Macquarie University, 2020). This is the reasoning behind the offer for this workshop

every month. For some, they may find their trick easily, for others it may take longer. Whatever the case,

we will be assisting students to find a trick in their trade that helps them continue their learning journey.

We are asking for staff to reach out if they are interested in being a mentor in a specific trade in order to

allow the most success for our students. We encourage everyone to read The Lighthouse article cited

below as a reference point for how we plan to help individuals along their journey.
