The importance of emotional

intelligence
Opening and closing presentation
Marilyn Suazo
According to psychologist Daniel Goleman, “80%
of people's success comes from their emotional
intelligence, while 20% comes from their rational
intelligence. By mixing them, people can generate
comprehensive skills and abilities that work in a
very harmonious way."

If you want to learn more about the importance

of emotional intelligence and how to improve it,
stay tuned to this presentation; you will find it
very interesting and helpful!
Here is how you can improve your emotional intelligence:

Be an active listener: Being an active listener does not only mean listening to
what someone is saying, it is about listening with empathy.

Understand yourself: It is great to know oneself thoroughly, be aware of our

emotions and understand why we react in certain ways.

Explore your past behavior: This can help find patterns, and work as a guide
when we face a similar situation in the future.

Practice mindfulness: A few minutes of silence and mindfulness can break

the barriers of our minds and help us achieve emotional intelligence.
Now that we have learned how important emotional intelligence is and how we can
improve it, I want to be clear about something; this skill will help you understand
your own emotions and other people's emotions. Meaning that you will build stronger
relationships with the people you care. Wouldn't it be awesome to have friends
around you that seek your presence when they are feeling down or simply because
they need help to make a decision? And not only friends but family and colleagues
that want to learn from you because you are a natural problem-solver.

I invite you to start improving this skill and become that confident person you have
always wanted to be. Be the leader of your own decisions, and do not be afraid to be
yourself!

You are awesome!

Techniques used

In my opener, I used the Benefit and Credibility technique by

quoting a famous psychologist and explaining the benefits of
my presentation to the audience.

In my conclusion, I used the Action and Emotion technique by

inviting the audience to take action on improving this skill and
closing it using an emotive phrase.
