dirt level and minimum light output which is acceptable to user. Refractor/lens should be washed in a solution of warm
water and any mild, non-abrasive household detergent, rinsed with clean water and wiped dry. Should optical assembly
become dirty on the inside, wipe refractor/lens and clean in above manner, replacing damaged gaskets as necessary.
• DO NOT INSTALL DAMAGED PRODUCT! This luminaire has been properly packed so that no parts should have been
damaged during transit. Inspect to confirm. Any part damaged or broken during or after assembly should be replaced.

DAMAGE

✓ Never connect components under load.

✓ Do not mount or support these fixtures in a manner that can cut the outer jacket or damage wire
insulation.
✓ Unless individual product specifications deem otherwise: Never connect an LED product directly to a
dimmer packs, occupancy sensors, timing devices, or other related control devices. LED fixtures must be
powered directly off a switched circuit.
✓ Unless individual product specifications deem otherwise: Do not restrict fixture ventilation. Allow for
some volume of airspace around fixture. Avoid covering LED fixtures with insulation, foam, or other
material that will prevent convection or conduction cooling.
✓ Unless individual product specifications deem otherwise: Do not exceed fixtures maximum ambient
temperature.
✓ Only use fixture in its intended location.
✓ Electrostatic Discharge (ESD): ESD can damage LED fixtures. Personal grounding equipment must be
worn during all installation or servicing of the unit.
✓ Do not touch individual electrical components as this can cause ESD, shorten lamp life, or alter
performance.
✓ Some components inside the fixture may not be serviceable. In the unlikely event your unit may require
service, stop using the unit immediately and contact an ABL representative for assistance.

2.2 Luminaire Mounting

2.2.1 Disconnect power to luminaire location.
2.2.2 Provide and install a suitable mounting structure.
2.2.2.1 A suitable mounting structure must be

2.3 Condensation Inside Conduit

2.3.1 Customer provided cable glands may be installed
between the luminaire and conduit to reduce
condensation inside of conduit from entering luminaire.

2.4 Electrical Cover and Luminaire Orientation

2.4.1 If the luminaire is designated as having a Forward
Throw or Long & Narrow distribution (FWD or SOND/ND
in the luminaire nomenclature, respectively), arrows on
the electrical cover need to be used for proper luminaire
orientation
2.4.1.1 Mount the electrical cover, orienting the
indicated arrows towards the area(s) to be lit. “FT”
indicates the direction of the Forward Throw (FWD)
light distribution; LN indicated the direction of the
Long & Narrow (ND) distribution.

3 Applying Thread Sealant (Figures 2 and 3)
3.1 Apply thread sealant to all used entries. On used
entries, remove plug and apply thread sealant to entry
threads, then install conduit and wipe off any excess
thread sealant.

4 Pendant Luminaire Installations (Figure 4)
4.1 Mounting
4.1.1 Loosen closure screw and open electrical housing.
(See Figure 1-A)
4.1.2 Un-hinge top cover from luminaire.
4.1.3 Back out the pendant set screw far enough to
ensure that it will not interfere with the pipe threads.
4.1.4 Remove top ¾” plug on threaded entry, if present
4.1.5 Pull supply wires through pendant entry and thread
electrical cover onto pipe at least (5) full turns until
secure.
4.1.5.1 A suitable mounting structure must be
provided that supports the full weight of the luminaire in
accordance with local codes.
4.1.6 Tighten pendant set screw, per torque specified in
Figure 5.

4.2 Wiring

housing. Customer supplied zip ties should be rated
90°C minimum
4.2.3 Close luminaire housing and tighten closure screw
to torque specified in Figure 1-A.
5 Ceiling Luminaire Installations (Figure 5)
5.1 Mounting
5.1.1 Loosen closure screw and open electrical housing.
(See Figure 1-A)
5.1.2 Un-hinge top cover from luminaire.
5.1.3 Remove 1-11.5 NPT plugs as needed for supply
wire access.
5.1.4 Customer shall provide two 3/8” diameter fasteners
with washers suitable for supporting the luminaire.
5.1.4.1 A suitable mounting structure must be
provided that supports the full weight of the luminaire in
accordance with local codes.
5.1.5 Install top cover to suitable building structure using
the fasteners.
5.1.6 Re-attach luminaire to top cover.
5.1.7 Proceed to Section 5.2

luminaire. If not attached, attach mounting arm to top
cover using two supplied 5/16-18 bolts as specified in

6.1.3 Provide 2X 5/16-18 diameter fasteners suitable for
supporting the luminaire and install the top cover with
mounting arm to the structure.
6.1.4 Remove 1-11.5 NPT plugs from the mounting arm
as needed for supply wires.
6.1.5 Remove mounting arm plate. (See Figure 9)
6.1.6 Re-attach luminaire to top cover.
6.1.7 Proceed to Section 6.2.

6.2 Wiring
6.2.1 Feed supply wires and mounting arm ground lead
from the mounting arm through the entry hole of the top
cover and into the wiring chamber. Use supplied zip ties
or customer supplied wire ties rated 90°C minimum to
secure the supply wires to the top cover such that they
cannot be pinched when closing the housing. Re-attach
mounting arm plate with 4 screws provided, per torque
specified in Figure 9.
6.2.2 Make appropriate supply and ground connections
to the luminaire wires in accordance with local codes.
6.2.3 Close luminaire and tighten closure screw to
torque specified in Figure 1-A.
7.2 Wiring
7.2.1 Feed supply wires and mounting arm ground lead
from the mounting arm through the entry hole of the top
cover and into the wiring chamber. Use supplied zip ties
or customer supplied wire ties rated 90°C minimum to
secure the supply wires to the top cover such that they
cannot be pinched when closing the housing. Re-attach
mounting arm plate with 4 screws provided, per torque
specified in Figure 9.
7.2.2 Make appropriate supply and ground connections
to the luminaire wires in accordance with local codes.
7.2.4 Close luminaire and tighten closure screw to
torque specified in Figure 1-A.
8 Gasket Hook Installations (Figure 8)
8.1 Mounting
8.1.1 Hang luminaire from a suitable structure.
8.1.1.1 A suitable mounting structure must be
provided that supports the full weight of the luminaire in
accordance with local codes.
8.1.2 Tighten hook screw until the head is flush with the
hook.
8.1.3 Cords provided by factory are pre-wired to
luminaire.
8.1.4 Insert plug into appropriate electrical receptacle.

7.1 Mounting
7.1.1 Loosen closure screw and open electrical housing.
(See Figure 1-A)
7.1.2 Un-hinge electrical cover with mounting arm from
luminaire. If not attached, attach mounting arm to top
cover using two supplied 5/16-18 bolts as specified in
Figure 9.
7.1.3 Remove mounting arm plate. (See Figure 9)
7.1.4 Feed supply wires through the stanchion opening
and into the mounting arm.
7.1.5 Thread mounting bracket with top cover onto
stanchion pipe.
7.1.6 Rotate cover to desired orientation then tighten (3)
stanchion set screws, per torque specified in Figure 7.
7.1.7 Proceed to Section 7.2

9 Yoke Mount Luminaire Installations (Figure 10)
9.1 Mounting
9.1.1 Loosen closure screw and open electrical housing.
(See Figure 1-A)
9.1.2 Un-hinge electrical cover with yoke mount from
luminaire.
9.1.4 Provide 2X 3/8 diameter fasteners suitable for
supporting the luminaire and install the top cover with
yoke mount to the structure via the yoke arm bracket.
9.1.5 Using a ¾” socket, loosen the angle adjustment
bolts until the yoke arm bracket can be rotated. Rotate
the arm to the desired angle and tighten both angle
adjustment bolts.
9.1.6 Route supply wires through pendant entry and
thread conduit into top cover (5) full turns until secure.
9.1.6.1 A suitable mounting structure must be
provided that supports the full weight of the luminaire in
accordance with local codes.
9.1.7 Tighten pendant set screw, per torque specified in
Figure 5.
9.1.8 Proceed to Section 9.2

9.2 Wiring
9.2.1 Route supply wires through pendant entry and into
electrical /driver housing
9.2.2 Hang the luminaire on the top cover. Make
appropriate supply and ground connections to the
luminaire wires in accordance with local codes.
Luminaire may need to be support and may not hang
properly depending on yoke angle and orientation
9.2.3 Use supplied zip tie to secure supply wires and
ensure they cannot be pinched when closing the
housing. Customer supplied zip ties shall be rated 90°C
minimum
9.2.4 Close luminaire housing and tighten closure screw
to torque specified in Figure 1-A.
10 Mounting to a Substation Arm Accessory
10.1 First, Mount the Arm Accessory. The Substation
Arm Accessory is a separate arm that can be purchased
to mount universal or low profile mount luminaires.
10.1.1 There is a Single Substation Arm for one
luminaire. The arm shall be installed horizontally such
that the luminaire points down toward the ground or
points up toward the sky. (See Figure 11)
10.1.2 There is a Double Substation Arm for two
luminaires. Mount the arm horizontally. One
luminaire will point down toward the ground and the
second luminaire will point up toward the sky. (See
Figure 11)

10.2 Disconnect power to arm location.
10.3 Provide and install a suitable mounting structure
that supports the full weight of the substation arm and up
to two luminaires in accordance with local codes.
10.3.1 The Single Substation Arm with one PXLW
luminaire weighs 35 lbs.
10.3.2 The Double Substation Arm with two PXLW
luminaires weighs 62 lbs.
10.4 Install the single or double arm onto the mounting
structure. Installer shall provide suitable 3/8” diameter
fasteners to mount the arm to the mounting structure.
10.5 Route supply wires into the side entries of the arm
and into the arm wiring chamber. (See Figure 12)
10.6 Make appropriate supply and ground connections
to the arm wires in accordance with local codes.

10.7 Next, Mount the Luminaire(s) to the Arm. Using
Section 3 for directions, apply thread sealant to the
pendant entry of the luminaire and to the nipple of the
arm.
10.7.1 Using Section 4.1 for directions, separate the
top cover from the luminaire.
10.7.2 Pull supply wires through pendant entry and
thread top cover onto pipe at least (5) full turns until
secure.
10.7.3 Tighten pendant set screw, per torque
specified in Figure 4.
10.7.4 Route the arm supply wires through pendant
entry of luminaire and into top cover wiring chamber.
10.7.5 Make appropriate arm supply wire connections
to the luminaire wires in accordance with local codes.
10.7.6 Re-attach luminaire to electrical cover and
tighten closure screw to torque specified in Figure 1-
A.
10.7.7 Repeat these instructions to install the second
luminaire onto a double substation arm.
WARNING
FOR A LUMINAIRE THAT POINTS UP TOWARD THE
SKY, THE LUMINAIRE IS NOT HELD CAPTIVE ONTO
THE HINGE OF THE ELECTRICAL COVER.
EXERCISE CAUTION AND FIRMLY GRASP THE
LUMINAIRE WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING THE
LUMINAIRE ONTO THE COVER. FAILURE TO
FIRMLY GRASP THE LUMINAIRE DURING OPENING
AND CLOSING CAN CAUSE THE LUMINAIRE TO
SEPARATE FROM THE COVER AND FALL CAUSING
DEATH, INJURY OR SERIOUS PROPERTY DAMAGE.

install separate conduit and water tight connection to
luminaire for dimming supply wires.
11.1.2 Route 0-10V DC dimming supply wires, rated
90°C minimum, to the luminaire for the dimming option.
Use wire ties rated 90°C minimum to secure the supply
wires to the electrical cover such that they cannot be
pinched when closing the housing.
11.1.3 Connect DC supply wires to purple and pink or
grey capped leads coming out of the driver.
11.1.4 Close luminaire and tighten closure screw to
torque specified in Figure 1-A.

12.1 Energize Luminaire
12.1.1 Energize luminaire and check for correct
operation.
12.1.1.1 A few second delay before the LED’s turn
on is typical for this luminaire.
13.1 Emergency Battery Option
13.1.1 Bring 4 conductor power – 3 conductors switched,
1 conductor un-switched -- into fixture via chosen
conduit opening in top cover
13.1.2 Connect switched power line to white, black, and
green conductors as per electrical code
13.1.3 Connect un-switched power line to black lead

15 Maintenance
15.1 Gasket Joint Surfaces
15.1.1 Check the condition of gaskets and gasket joint
surfaces. Optical or electrical gaskets that show signs of
damage or wear and gasket joint surfaces that have
debris may affect seal integrity.

15.2 Cleaning
15.2.1 Disconnect power to the unit prior to opening and
performing any maintenance.
15.2.2 Wipe off exterior dirt and debris using a soft clean
cloth. A mild detergent and water may be used if
necessary.

15.3 Optic Replacement (Figure 20)
15.3.1 Disconnect power to the luminaire.
15.3.2 Remove luminaire and set on a work surface for
optic replacement.
15.3.3 Remove the four fasteners holding the ring and
glass optical assembly using a T-20 Torx screwdriver.
15.3.4 Replace with new optical assembly into heatsink
using the drip edge as a guide. Inspect optical gasket
surface and remove debris that may affect seal integrity.
15.3.5 Partially thread each ring fastener into the heat
sink.
15.3.6 Then drive each ring fastener, one by one, further
down in a sequential pattern until the ring is seated
against the heat sink.
15.3.7 Tighten each ring fastener to between 25 and 35
inch pounds.

15.4.1 Disconnect power to the luminaire location before
maintenance. Loosen closure screw and open electrical
housing. See Figure 1-A.
15.4.2 Tag leads before disconnecting.
15.4.3 Replace components using Holophane approved
replacement parts.
15.4.4 Examine the condition of electrical cover gasket
and gasket joint surfaces. See Section 15.1
15.4.5 Re-connect electrical components
15.4.6 Close luminaire and tighten closure screw to
torque specified in Figure 1-A.

16.0.1 Remove antenna tape and discard (see figure 21)
16.0.2 Fasten female end of antenna to protruding male
connector on the sensor housing (see figure 21)
