Selection Committee:
Please accept this letter in support of Luna Flynn’s application for consideration of the applied
position.
I have had the pleasure of serving as faculty for Luna and it is from this perspective that I write
this letter of support.
A graduate student at the University of Southern California’s Masters of School Counseling
program and a recent graduate of the University of Davis, Luna has become an advocate for
students and families both in and out of the classroom. She has developed and demonstrated a
level of sensitivity to diversity issues that creates a welcoming space of inclusivity. In classes,
Luna thinks critically in an effort to understand our diverse society and one’s unique
positionality. In both my academic and clinical opinion, her counseling philosophy will directly
influence how she structures her job duties, specifically infusing real-life application.
Moreover, Luna’s leadership and internship experience has undoubtedly helped shape her
professional lens. She serves as a School counseling intern at Dry Creek Elementary School and
Roseville High School. She is tasked with weekly check-ins, observations during recess and
lunch, collaborate with teachers, school psychologists, admin, and stakeholders to meet the needs
of the students. From participating in IEP and 504 Plan meetings to completing individual
student academic planning, Luna has been a vital asset to the students. Luna’s duties also
included reviewing and discussing students' academic credentials, interests and educational
goals; data collection and analysis to monitor students’ progress, while making recommendations
for improvements. Luna’s experiences have, without question, led her towards her calling of
serving as a counselor.
As a student, Luna has shown me dependability and responsibility, all while displaying culturally
sensitive and scholarly writing. I can say without a doubt that my journey as faculty has often
been one of almost undeserved ease because of students like Luna. Without reservation, I give
my full recommendation and am confident that Luna will be an asset to any school system and
even in higher education.
If you have any questions and/or concerns pertaining to this letter of recommendation, please
feel free to contact me directly.
Best Regards,
