PROCEDURE: A. Preparation
 Routinary Activities:
 Prayer, Checking of Attendance, Reminders

B. Motivation

 The teacher lets the students report to their respective groups.

Mechanics:
1. Provide each group with a strip containing the following symbols:

cf b N LB i fP k Pk 100
  k

2. In 1 minute, let each group create a formula using the symbols provided.
3. The first group to get the correct formula will be given 3 points, the second will be
given 2 points, and the rest will get 1 point.

 What do you think of this formula?

C. Presentation

Present this example to the students:

Calculate the 65th percentile of the Mathematics Test scores of 50 students.
Scores Frequency
46 – 50 4
41 – 45 8
36 – 40 11
31 – 35 9
26 – 30 12
21 – 25 6

D.Discussion/Abstraction
 What must be determined first before computing the 65 th percentile?
 What is the P65 class?
 How will you determine the percentiles of the grouped data?
 What formula will be used?

Discuss the solution to the example presented.

E. Exercises

Calculate the 32nd percentile of the Mathematics Test scores of 50 students.

Scores Frequency
46 – 50 4
41 – 45 8
36 – 40 11
31 – 35 9
26 – 30 12
21 – 25 6

F. Generalization

How are percentiles for grouped data calculated?

G. Application

Let the students cite some instances where knowledge and skills about the percentiles for
grouped data can be applied. Let them justify their answers.

H. Evaluation

Directions: Calculate the 30th and 80th percentile of the Results of Final Examination in
Mathematics.
