C-41 Fixer, Alt.

Bleach, and Processing Times

In some cases, better results are achieved through the three bath methods (Dev, Bleach, Fix) or
if you wish to do bleach bypass. You can also use a standard black and white fixer for bleach
bypass so if you don’t feel like making the listed fixer below.

C-41 Alt. Bleach

750 ml - Distilled Water

80 g - Potassium Ferricyanide

20 g - Potassium Bromide

Water to complete 1 liter

C-41 Fixer

750 ml - Distilled Water

160 ml - 60% Ammonium Thiosulfate

1 g - EDTA

12 g - Sodium Bisulfite (can be subbed 1 to 1 with Sodium Metabisulfite)

2.5 g - Sodium Hydroxide

Water to complete 1 liter

Directions:

All chemistry at 38° C / 100° F

5 min. - Dry tank warm up

3 min. 15 sec. - Developer (continuous first 15 sec., 4 rotations every 30 sec. after)

45 sec. - Stop Bath


1 min. - Rinse (two 30 sec. Rinse cycles)

2 min. 30 sec. - Bleach (see developer instructions)

1 min. - Rinse (two 30 sec. Rinse cycles)

2 min. 30 sec. - Fixer

4 min. - Final rinse (eight 30 sec. Rinse cycles)
