Subject Nature : Practical
Coordinator : Prof. Kishanjit Kumar Khatua
Syllabus
1 Application of CFD problems in fluid flow problems using Mat-Lab codes ( solutions to Parabolic, hyperbolic and elliptic equations
and stability analysisi)
2 Application of CES Software for predicting stage-discharge, boundary shear and depth-averaged velocity in an open channel flow
3. Application of ANSYS to Pipe flow and to open channel flow to find velocity contours and boundary shear stress distributions in the
flow cross-sections
Course Objectives
1. To become proficient in the application of the FLUENT, CFD and CES software for application in Water Resources engineering
2. To be competent enough in solving governing equations of fluid flow problems through numerical approach and to validate the
results from the theoretical approach.
3. To compute the flow variables of an open channel flow and pipe flow for different roughness and geometric conditions by applying
recent hydraulic software.
4. To solve the partial differential equations by finite difference approaches by different approximate techniques and to learn the
stability check applicable to fluid flow problems
