9. Based on the given paragraph, answer the Question.

In chemistry, a colloid is a mixture in which one substance of
microscopically dispersed insoluble or soluble particles is suspended
throughout another substance. Sometimes the dispersed substance
alone is called the colloid.

3
Unlike a solution, whose solute and solvent constitute only one phase,
a colloid has a dispersed phase (the suspended particles) and a
continuous phase (the medium of suspension) that arise by phase
separation. To qualify as a colloid, the mixture must be one that does
not settle or would take a very long time to settle appreciably. These
types of solutions also show the property of scattering of light. The
size of the particles is what distinguishes a colloid from a true solution.

Directions: Answer the following questions by selecting the most

appropriate option.
1. Nammescong Creek flowed into the backs of my thighs as I fished,
pausing between casts to secure my balance in the current and admire
a new hatch of pale yellow mayflies lift from the stream. over my
shoulder, the sun dropped into a farmer's cornfield, the final patch of
orange light on the water enough for me to spot the small, vaguely
metallic object at my feet. Retrieving it, I ran my thumb over its raised
lettering, rubbing away the mud and a string of algae. A name
appeared, along with an expiration date. June 1984, I had discovered
arrowhead here in the past, so it didn't seem misplaced to find a tool
used by modern man to obtain a meal.
2. I took a moment to consider how the card had come to rest in the bed
of the Nammy. I thought may be there was story in it. i was curious
to know if the owner had lost his wallet while fishing, the whole trip
ruined the second he'd inventoried his cash or dug out his licence for

4
a game warden. Over time the leather would've rotted into fish food,
with the scoured plastic remaining. I wondered how many miles the
card might have ridden on spring floods over the past quarter of a
century. For all I knew he could've been robbed, the thieves stripping
out the money and tossing the billfold away later as they crossed a
bridge.
3. Looking him up and phoning, I recited the card number and issuing
bank. He laughed, recalling it as the first credit account he'd ever taken
out, a line of imaginary cash in those years when he had no real money.
But that finally changed, he explained, after an industrial accident cost
him his left eye, the payoff from he plant enabling him to retire eight
years earlier than expected and move to a small hobby farm in
southern Virginia. He told me a glass eye wasn't his style, so he had
taken to wearing an eyepatch, which his wife still hates and his
grandchildren- ages three, five, and seven- have always loved, as it
makes Grandpop look like a pirate. he called them his Miracle
Grandbabies, born to a daughter who struggled with alcohol and drug
addiction for years- her rock-bottom in 1984, a year before she cleaned
up for good.
4. But in the end the man couldn't remember ever losing his wallet, either
by accident or theft. He said he'd never fished the Nammy, that, in
fact, he'd always thought the sport a little boring, and so I came to
realize there was no story here.

Let the car start moving from a point A and point B the half distance
on the circular tag.
The radius of the circle is r cm
After the 1 complete round, the car will reach at the
position A. Thus; the net displacement will be zero.
For the 0.5 round, the car starts from A and ends at
B. Thus, the total displacement will be along the
diagonal AB of the circle.
The displacement of the car= Diagonal AB of the circle = 2× r( Radius
of the circle).
Thus, option D is the correct option.
2. Ans. B.
The ball is dropped from the height of 25 m from the top of a tower.
The initial velocity of the ball is 0.
The final velocity of the ball,

Given that,
In a parallelogram ABCD:
CD = AB = 18 cm (Opposite sides of parallelogram are equal)
We know that,
Area of parallelogram = Base × Corresponding altitude
As AE ⊥ DC,
Area of parallelogram ABCD = CD × AE …. (1)
Also, CF ⊥ AD,
Area of parallelogram ABCD = AD × CF …... (2)

19
From (1) and (2),
CD× AE = AD × CF
18 cm × 9 cm = AD × 10 cm

AD = 16.2 cm
Now, AD = BC = 16.2 [Opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal]
Hence, C is the correct answer.

∠CDB = 180° - 95° = 85°
And,
∠CBD + ∠CDB + ∠BCD = 180° [Sum of angles of a triangle]
∠BCD = 180° - 85° - 65° = 30°
Now, BC || AE and if two lines are parallel and a transversal line
intersect both lines then alternate interior angles are equal and we
have
∠BCA = ∠CAE
∠BCD + ∠ACD = ∠CAE [Alternate Interior angles]
∠CAE = 20° + 30° = 50°
Hence, D is the correct answer.

39. Ans. B.
We know that, area of a right-angle triangle = ½ × base × height
Now, for an isosceles right-angled triangle, base = height
Therefore,
Let base = height = x
Area = ½ × x × x = 8
x2 = 16
x = 4 cm
Now, hypotenuse will be given by,
(Hypotenuse)2 = 42 + 42
Hypotenuse = 4√2 cm
Perimeter = 4 + 4 + 4√2
= 8 + 4√2 cm
Hence, B is the correct answer.
40. Ans. C.

BE = 2 EA
And,
DF = 2FC
AB - AE = 2 AE
And,
DC - FC = 2 FC
AB = 3 AE
And,
DC = 3 FC
1 1
AE = AB and FC = DC (i)
3 3
But,
AB = DC
Then,
AE = FC (Opposite sides of a parallelogram)
Thus,
AE || FC such that AE = FC
Then,
AECF is a parallelogram

22
1
Now, Area of parallelogram (AECF) = (AB × FG) [From (i)
3
3 × Area of parallelogram AECF = AB × FG (ii)
And,
Area of parallelogram ABCD = AB × FG (iii)
Compare equation (ii) and (iii), we get
3 × Area of parallelogram AECF = Area of parallelogram ABCD
1
Area of parallelogram AECF = Area of parallelogram ABCD
3
1
ar(AECF)/ar(ABCD) =
3
Hence, C is the correct answer.

The middle letters are static, so concentrate on the first and third
letters. The series involves an alphabetical order with a reversal of
the letters. The first letters are in alphabetical order: F, G, H, I , J.
The second and fourth segments are reversals of the first and third
segments. The missing segment begins with a new letter.
