The Speaker's Quests Harbin Wester's 9 quests Raners F Boriish PorcesABproiing! Soo The Cowardly Town Speaker Harbin Wester is described as a “coward” in the campaign, but there isn't much proof of that. I rewrote his quests so they sound less like a reasonably concerned citizen, and more like an egomaniac aristocrat with a full blown paranoia for dragon attacks. I wrote these with the idea that the town speaker would often over exaggerate the danger he was in, while grossly under exaggerating the danger his underlings might be in. He’s meant to be a largely unlikeable, but ultimately harmless little gremlin of a man. lalso have it so that Harbin seems to think that HE is the hero saving all of Phandalin. After all, if it weren't for his quest missives, the heroes never would have slayed that dragon! Irecommend having a small arc where the party can in the end “defeat” Harbin. Either by getting him impeached as town speaker, nvincing the town to form a council to combat harbin’s power, or just humiliating the poor bastard in front of his constituents at the end of the campaign. Found: Phandalin Job board Dragon Sightings! brought to you by Phandalin's "Chruch of Tymora" DRaGon | Dra gon Spotten a ea? | Sighting on iy 4 SGMIVE | REPORT ee oA \ REPORT E | alin i in F - weeSon Shring . RePonre, i Suspiciously Helpful Church This set of handouts requires a slight change to the campaign: the church of Tymora in Phandalin must be occupied by at least 3 dedicated worshippers. The campaign book says that it is unoccupied, but in order for the tiny town of Phandalin to be properly notified about dragon sightings I decided it made more sense for a few (secret)agents of (the knowledge obsessed) harpers faction to be in town. The Shrine of Luck is run by Sister Garaele, and I can't find a good reason why she needs to be gone like the campaign insists. So I recommend having her and 2 of her apprentices occupying the shrine. It is up to you whether Sister Garaele’s apprentices are also in the harpers, or have just absorbed Garaele’s reporter-like interest in knowledge. The symbol used on most of the handouts is the symbol of the secret faction called the Harpers, masquerading as a church of Tymora. A DCis history check means that a player would recognize the symbol for what it actually is. A DCro history or religion determines that that is not any symbol of Tymora that the character knows. Found: Anywhere in Phandalin Quests and Lore Falcon's Lodge, Icespire Hold, Savra's Shrine & Orc Cult Lore Falcon's Hunting Lodge This is the missive that shows up if the party isn't at the lodge when the ores make their counter attack Found: Phandalin Job Board Icespire Hold This handout is an easy way to get the party to the dragon's lair. It also gives’a bit oF infd about the enemies they will meet there, making that quest a bit more of a plannable heist than your typical ambush Found: In a Town or on a Road/Trail The Orc Cult of Talos Soemone can only read this is they havea wa to read Orcish, they can find someone who ¢ translate in Leilon or Neverwinter otherwise. This is a tiny bit of lore for the ores, why, some might be tempted to join the cult and who they worship Found: Neverwinter Wood or on Orc This one was difficult to make a handout for. Settled on some random phandalin citizen aving a weird grudge. The way to finish’this, que: és © announce to dhe town the discoveries at the Savras Shrine. thervvise you can say that the handwriting 4s Cleary from any phandalin resident. Found: Phandalin Job Board Lore and Quest Neverwinter Wood, Tower of Storms, and Magic Pumpkins The Dangerous Woods This missive is referencing the ore cult that is trying to take over the Neverwinter wood, The blood noon’ is referencing the Woodland Manse quest where the Gulthias tree will spawn extra enemies when “the moon is blood red’. Tt is assumed that unless the party is there, these creatures will wreak havoe throughout the woods: Found: In Any Town or Trail/Road Tower of Storms This missive alerts the party to the “Tower of Storms” quest. Found: In any Town or Trail/Road Magic Pumpkins In the "Woodland Manse” quest, there are magic pumpkins that have healing properties. This way players have a reason to suspect the pumpkins and will hopefully make the positive discover themselves, making them feel accomplished and smart, all according to the s plan.
