SEMI DETAILED SCIENCE LESSON PLAN

GRADE LEVEL QUARTER / DOMAIN WEEK & DAY NO. PAGE NO.
10 FOURTH Quarter 1 ,2 1

I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate an understanding of how gases behave based on the motion
A. Content Standards and relative distances between gas
particles
B. Performance Standards
The learners should be able to
1. investigate the relationship between:
C. Learning Competencies/ 1.1 volume and pressure at constant temperature of a gas;
Objectives 1.2 volume and temperature at constant pressure of a gas;
(Write the LC code) 1.3 explains these relationships using the kinetic molecular theory;
S10MTIVa-b-21
At the end of the lesson, the students are able to:
1. Explain the properties of gases (Cognitive)
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the variables that affect behavior of gases through a
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
think, pair, share (Virtual Psychomotor)
3. Relate the definition of gas to real-life examples and integrate its
importance to the different systems of the earth (Affective)
II. CONTENT BEHAVIOR OF GASES
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide pages
2. Learner’s Materials pages NFE. Gases: Molecules in Motion. 2001. pp. 12- 29.
3. Textbook pages
4. Additional Materials from

IV. PROCEDURES
ELICIT

Students play pass the paper ball. When the music stops, the one who holds the paper will
answer a question.
A. Reviewing previous lesson
or presenting the new
lesson What are the gases that you know?
If you would be a gas to someone’s life, what woud you be?

Let the students point out the properties of gas when comparing.

B. Establishing a purpose for ENGAGE

the lesson State the objectives of the lesson.

GIFs of gases will be shown. Let the students describe the behavior of gases based on the
pictures.
*Do gas particles move randomly or follow a pattern?
C. Presenting Teacher gives a follow up question if students haven’t described based on the shape,
examples/instances of the volume, ability to flow and movement.
new lesson *Can you see these movements in reality?

Teacher explains that there are also visible gases.

(THINK. PAIR.SHARE.)

Students count off by 2.

Display the set of questions. All number 1 will answer SET A questions and all number 2
set B questions.

After giving enough time, #1 students will face #2 and he will become his pair. Both will
discuss and share their corresponding answers.

E. Discussing new concepts Teacher then chooses 5 student pairs to share their answer to the class.
and practicing new skills #2

EXPLAIN
Teacher discusses the correct answer if students did not get it right after the sharing.

Teacher shows a simulation on behavior of gases using this link

F. Developing mastery (leads https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/gases-intro/latest/gases-intro_en.html
to Formative Assessment 3)
Teacher discusses the four properties/variables of gas.

G. Finding practical ELABORATE

applications of concepts Teacher presents the different units of the four variables and their equivalents.
and skills in daily living
Teacher then asks,
From your daily experiences, can you enumerate some instances where these
properties are shown?
Gas has mass:

Empty LPG gas container is lighter than LPG gas container filled with gas. Gas are
made of elements which has mass. We can used digital balance in determining the
mass of gas.

Gas has temperature:

The temperature inside the mall is colder than outside.,We can measure the air
H. Making generalizations and
abstractions about the temperature or gas temperature using thermometer.,Hot air balloon
lesson
Gas has volume:

inflated balloon increase in size when filled with air.

Gas has pressure:

fizzing of soda

Explosion of tires when to much air put inside.

I. Evaluating learning EVALUATE
