Why is it essential that safety and health are seriously promoted?

- The involvement of engineers in safety and health in the workplace is critical. Engineers are
working in manufacturing big machines, and their number 1 priority is the safety of the material
they are building. Also, there are Safety Engineers that prioritize the safety of the employees,
and they are making sure that no one in their company should be harmed or no property must
be damaged. Safety and health should be promoted because, as an upcoming manager, I am the
one who will be responsible for my employees, and for me having a safe and healthy protocol in
every company is a must to prevent accidents that could result in injuries or property damage.

2. What makes a code of ethics important in maintaining safety? Explain and discuss by giving an
example.
- Code of ethics is also important in maintaining safety because, as an upcoming Engineer, we
should always abide by the plan. After all, if we are to deviate from the plan, we don’t know
what it is, but we cannot capture any errors anymore because we did not follow the correct
procedures. We should not let our conscience do something that we don’t know. An example of
this is the one mentioned by our professor earlier in the discussion, and he stated that don’t sign
a layout of a building or any project that you do not know of, do not do it because of the money.
This is right because if we are to sign those documents and we do not know those plans.
Something terrible happened, and we did not even check the project. Accidents might likely
occur, so as engineers, we should have knowledge and ethics and always follow the rules to
avoid accidents.
