THE DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE,

GOMOA EAST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY,
CENTRAL REGION.

Dear Sir,
PETITION FOR A DRAINAGE SYSTEM IN OUR COMMUNITY
We write to your high office for a drainage system in the “One-leg” enclave of the Millennium City to
avert the devastative effects of the perennial floods in the area.

In 2020, the Millennium City Gateway Association, through its members and support from various
individuals, constructed approximately a one-kilometer drain, and a bridge on the One-leg junction –
Ice-Up high street. Prior to these capital-intensive self-help projects, the community, including school
children, were cut off any time there was heavy downpour.
Currently, the drain is closing up with silt hence the need for it to be de-silted as a matter of urgency.
The Association is prepared to collaborate with the Assembly in the financing. We believe that there is
the need for a long-term permanent plan by way of concreting, with culverts at appropriate places. In
actual fact, the connecting subsidiary drainages also need be factored into the solution. However, the
Association lacks the required expertise to design a drainage system that will meet the Assembly’s
development plans and can stand the test of time. We are therefore petitioning your high office for
collaboration between our Association and the Assembly to solve the drainage issues in our community.
We believe that a collaboration between the Assembly and a vibrant association like ours will bring
enviable developments to this community in your jurisdiction and under your tenure of office.

We look forward to a favorable response and invitation for further discussions.

Respectfully,

………………………………………. …………………………………

ALHASSAN AMIDU [CHAIRMAN] ERIC ARTHUR [GEN. SECRETARY]

i. Hon. Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, Member of parliament for Gomoa East
