Q.1 Read the extract given below and answer the questions that follow:

Mr. Wonka opened the door. Five children and nine-grown-ups pushed their way in- and oh,
what an amazing sight it was that now met their eyes!
They were looking down upon a lovely valley. There were green meadows on either side of the
valley, and along the bottom of it there flowed a great brown river.

a. When the visitors entered the Chocolate Room they saw ‘a lovely Valley’. Mention
three things about it.

b. What were the pipes made up of? Why had they been installed in the chocolate
factory?

c. How many children are addressed here? What was an amazing sight that then met
their eyes?
