Bullying refers to the physical or psychological harm suffered by a child intentionally and
repeatedly by an aggressor or a group of aggressors. In this case, the person who
harasses uses her power, whether physical, psychological or social, to exercise control
over the victim or generate a series of harmful behaviors and feelings that affect her
well-being.
Inform children about what bullying is, how to identify it and act safely. Working on the
theme in class, for example, makes children more and better aware of this problem.
Maintain active communication with minors and observe their attitude to detect
problems if any.
NEVER downplay a case of possible bullying. Listening and respecting is key so that
minors trust teachers and parents and can receive their help.
Set an example as adults in respectful and kind treatment with others.
Promote coeducation in the classroom as an educational model to instill behaviors and
values of respect, fairness, empathy and good treatment.
In the case of a school bullying situation, parents must act as a team with educators to
stop the situation and solve the problem.
