IMPORTANCE OF DHAMA VISIT

1. Mahaprabhu taught through Rupa Goswami, five very important principles, most
important to make spiritual progress. They are – To associate with devotees, chant the holy
names, to hear Srimad Bhagvatam, worship the deities and be in the holy dham. All of
these 5 is really all we have. There is nothing else to do. We hear hari katha, we chant the
holy names, and to perform such activities in the holy dham, even that is increased many
folds here. We have such a rare opportunity to make such spiritual progress in short time
while residing in Dham.
2. Getting Divine experience of spiritual bliss .

Lord's sandhini potency (the energy of eternal existence), which measures sixteen krosas in
circumference and is the residence of the Lord's cit (knowledge) and ananda (bliss)
potencies, which is the seat of all the other holy places of pilgrimage, and is the resting place
for all demigods, sages and scriptures-May this holy dham of Navadvipa manifest before my

"Those who worship Me in Kali-yuga while residing in Mayapuri will be freed from all sinful reactions
and will achieve the supreme destination. Know that all holy places which separately reside in
Navadvipa are one billion times more glorious in Kali-yuga. Just as metal in touch with a touchstone
increases its value, the glory of a tirtha grows when it is in touch with Śrī Gauranga Mahaprabhu

"That personality who is full of bliss and victorious all over the three planetary systems will arise near the Gangā
in Navadvipa. He will have a beautiful golen form and will give sinful persons the most pure nama to deliver them
from most the ocean of sins. He is famous in the world as Lord Gauracandra .(Brhad brahma Yamala tantra
Glories of Sri Ksetra

In Sri Brhad Bhagavatamrtam (2.1.159-163) Srila Sanatana Gosvami describes Puri-dhama

In Purusottama-ksetra Nilacala, by the shore of the salt-water ocean, the Lord of the universe
(Jagannatha) is splendidly manifested in a spiritual form of wood.

“On the northern shore of the ocean, in Purusottama-ksetra, the supremely blissful Personality of
Godhead pretends to be made of wood.

The Vishnu Purana explains: In the country of Orissa, in Nilacala in Purusottama-ksetra, the
spiritual and blissful Personality of Godhead appears as the wooden Deity named Lord
Jagannatha.”

“In Bharata-varsa, in the country of Orissa, in Bhu-svarga, in Purusottama-ksetra, the Lord of the
Universe (Jagannatha), who makes the devotees fearless, whose pastimes are like those of a
human being, and who grants liberation, appears in a form of wood.”

The Goddess of Fortune personally cooks for Him. When He has eaten, the merciful Lord gives His
remnants to His devotees, which even the demigods cannot obtain.”
