SETTING

Concert Band

OBJECTIVES

● Read Bb and Eb lines 1 - 3 Band Basics


● Read through Autumn Fanfare
● Read 1b - 2b of Chart 11
● Students will be able to play pg. 28
● Students will be able to read through Evening at the Symphony
● Concert F

MATERIALS

● Band Basics
● Autumn Fanfare
● Evening at the Symphony
● Spirit of the Stallion
● Teaching Rhythm Logically

PROCEDURES

● Band Basics
○ Concert Eb Side
■ Remind students to check their fingerings that correlate with the key signature
■ Play through
○ Test on thursday over measures 22 - 26
● Autumn Fanfare (Park)
○ Read through
● Chart 11
○ Count first then play
○ Connect the measures that the rhythm changes
○ Lines 1 - 3
● Spirit of the Stallion
○ Mm. 12
■ Check rhythm in flutes, oboes, and trombones/euphs
○ Mm. 20
■ Check rhythm for trpts, tbns, and bass clarinet to not hesitate going from 4/4 to
3/4
○ Mm. 48
■ Check chord progression slowly as the chords are very dense
■ Isolate low voices (sustained notes)
● Evening at the Symphony (Park)
● Concert F (Park)

ASSESSMENT/CLOSER

Assessment will be done informally by assessing by section in moments of isolation.
