General Mechanics:

The SMT Quiz Bee is composed of three (3) rounds namely; Easy, Average and Difficult. The
questions in each round comes from Science, Mathematics and Technology areas.
Questions may be in the form of Multiple Choice, Identification, and Problem Solving.
Each round is composed of 10 questions worth one (1) point, three (3) points and five (5) points
each for easy, average and difficult; respectively.

The quiz masters will read each question twice and the timer will start right after the quiz master
finishes reading. When the buzzer sound is heard, contestants will stop writing and will raise
their answer boards.
Teams with correct answer will get the appropriate point/s.
A five (5) minute break is given at the end of each round to allow the contestants to stretch or go
to the bathroom.

Answering Mechanics:
Only exact and complete answers shall merit full points. Incorrect, misspelled, and no answer
shall NOT be accepted.
For numerical answers, proper rules on significant figures and rounding off must be observed.

SCORING MECHANICS
Points shall be distributed as follows:

Scoring system shall be managed by the official scorer. Any error in the scoring of any team
should be raised by the duly designated representative of the school through the facilitators.
Failure to raise, the score reflected on the scoring board is deemed correct and final at the end of
each round.

THE BREAKING MECHANICS


In the case of a tie at the end of the final round, a tie breaker question will immediately follow.
Clincher question is given to break the tie. The first team to answer the question correctly is
declared the winner.
