Our topic for this campaign is raising awareness on Diabetes.

The reason for selecting this issue is because we live in a society where every other person is
suffering from Diabetes, however, only a few of them are aware of it.

We, as HAYAT, aim to fight this lack of awareness and make sure that everyone who is suffering and
those who are potential targets of diabetes, know what they are up against and how to fight it.
Through this campaign we hope to make a dent in this major threat that is, lack of awareness.

We conducted two expert interviews: one, a diabetes specialist doctor and the other, a diabetic
patient. HAYAT informatory brochures were distributed at a large-scale Model United Nations
conference among hundreds of young diplomatic minds promising to be future leaders. We designed
hand-made posters and got thousands of brochures printed which we distributed everywhere we
went. We conducted a seminar at a school leading to an awareness walk while displaying our
posters. We also conducted a door-to-door campaign to raise awareness on diabetes. A social-media
page was created to target larger audiences that were physically unreachable. To further gain
information, we gathered some cultural perspectives as well. We sent questionnaires out to a
doctor living in a different city, which is Rawalpindi to assess the situation of diabetic facilities there,
and we also sent one out to a doctor in Ireland to know more about the situation of diabetes there.
The piece-de-resistance however was undoubtedly the interview of Mr. Patrick Carollus, a Slovenian
public speaker whose son is diabetic. He shed light on the hinderances his son has in life and how
Slovenia doesn’t have the necessary facilities. That interview made us all tear up and showed what
effect diabetes can have on a family.
