VI. Course No. and Title: ENGLISH 111 - READING VISUAL ART
Pre-requisite: None
VII. School Year/Semester Offered: SY 2022-2023, 1ST Semester

VIII. Course Description: This course involves informed reading and analysis of visual art
including film as text using varied approaches and techniques.

IX. Course Credit/Unit: 3 units, 3 lecture hours/week X. Course Outcomes:

At the end of the course, the students, given various graphic arts, must have:

1. used varied approaches to provide nan informed reading and analysis of texts;
2. evaluated signs, symbols and other pertinent codes found in the images presented;
3. critiqued images based on textual contexts;
4. presented viral images and explain socio-cultural contexts involved; and
5. communicated visually by creating their choice of any graphic art addressing relevant
issues aligned to their respective programs.

Grading System:
Midterm Exam/Final Exam : 30%
Quizzes and Creative Responses : 40%
Group Reports or Presentations / Digital Portfolio : 20%
Attendance / Recitation : 10%
Total : 100%

Final Grade Components: xc1/3 of Midterm Grade + 2/3 of Final Term Grade= FINAL GRADE
XIII. Course Requirements

Every student must have:

1. attended the class regularly


2. passed the Midterm and Final Exams
3. collaborated with classmates in the submission of creative works, in designing e-
portfolios, classroom reports and presentations;
4. passed all the quizzes
5. participated in class discussions
6. joined in the site trip/educational exposure to art gallery/other visual art sites
