Mandatory Amenities and Services in 4-5 Star Hotels

1. Introduction
Among other sectors, the hospitality industry is unique in both its depth and
prevalence in daily life. Hospitality plays a major role in both leisure and
business, from lodging such as hotels and guest houses to catering and
entertainment to tour operators and cruise operators. A very limited number
of companies, a handful of major names, dominate most industries.
However, since hospitality is so diverse, the number of well-known
companies involved is also impressively high, including multinational hotel
and restaurant chains, airline companies and many.

In the service industry, the contrast between perceptions and experiences

is the product of a customer's perceived service quality. Research shows
that employee satisfaction is not related to a particular category of quality,
but depends on the capacity of the hotel to fulfill customer standards. Even
if research on this subject is scarce, a few studies indicate that the category
of classification is a measure of price rather than quality in the hotel sector.
Prices and stars may be variables that decide perceptions from the point of
view of the consumer.

Therefore, when a client pays a high price to go to a high-class hotel, it is

more demanding, has higher standards, and then its quality evaluation and
satisfaction are affected. In addition, the classification of hotels is typically
producer-driven rather than client-driven. Hotels are typically rated on a
scale of 1 to 5 stars, with the top score possible being five stars.

The rapid growth of international hospitality, from a fortunate few's quest

just half a century ago to a genuinely worldwide phenomenon nowadays, has
seen the industry become a backbone of our world economy, accounting for
9% of global GDP, 30% of service exports, and one out of each 11 jobs.

3
Mandatory Amenities and Services in 4-5 Star Hotels

However, even as travelers become more adventurous, searching out new

and undiscovered destinations, they continue to demand certain indications
of what they'd like to encounter. Such reasons to suspect regarding lodging
have long been given by official hotel classification systems.

Official hotel classification schemes have no global model, and there'll

never be one due to the enormous variety of the natural, cultural, financial,
and political contexts in which they operate. There are, however,
unquestionably commonalities that bind accommodation of different norms
all over the world. Identifying these similarities and differences will assist
destinations in creating or revising classifications that are important and
useful to customers, lodging, intermediaries, and locations alike.

In the hospitality industry, hotel classification systems are commonly used

as a way of educating both customers and intermediaries about the
requirements that can be encountered at individual establishments. This is
especially relevant in a sector where the product (i.e., accommodation) is
purchased or listed without first seeing or checking it. Furthermore, hotel
classifications can serve as powerful marketing platforms for both individual
hotels and destinations seeking to enhance the high quality of their offerings.

Additionally, growing complexity of both lodging styles and the cultural,

ecological, and financial contexts in which the structures are embedde,
creating a classification for travelers looking is a difficult challenge.

In this regard, the recurrence of requirements in 4 and 5 star hotels is

discussed in detail in this course work.

2. Hotel Classification System

Key findings on hotel classification systems

Hotel classification allows for the identification of established

specifications, which can help consumers make informed choices, control
destination quality, and set fair prices.

If the following criteria are met, hotel classification may be used as a

development method to increase the quality of tourist accommodations.

- Quality assessors/inspectors are professional and trained to provide

operators with advice and guidance.

- Market analysis and other approaches are use to track improvements in

consumer preferences, which are then integrated into the registration and/or
classification requirements.

Hotel classifications make it easier for independent and smaller hotels to

compete in a global marketplace where major hotel brands have risen in
popularity and are increasingly affecting customer preference.

State or regional agencies are normally in charge of placing programs in

place. In some places, automobile clubs and hotel associations also play
this role.

The three fundamental components of all the classification systems

studied are the requirements for each ranking, the evaluation procedure,
and the communication of the classification or nomenclature.

A increase in market dependency on guest reviews has resulted from the

underrepresentation of subjective elements.

The range of programs and implementation systems can be perplexing to

customers. There are at least five different approaches, with different

5
Mandatory Amenities and Services in 4-5 Star Hotels

practices and procedures within each approach.

Comparability between accommodation styles remains a major

challenge; for example, a customer may go from a four-star hotel to a
bush lodge, a bed and breakfast, or another form of lodging, all while
expecting a similar level of service but with different facilities. It is vital to
ensure that the various styles of accommodations compete equally.

2.1 Classification of 4-5 stars hotels

Hotel ratings are commonly use to categorize hotels based on their quality.
The aims of hotel rating have evolved from an initial emphasis on educating
travelers on specific amenities that can be anticipate to a focus on the hotel
experience as a whole. Today, the words 'grading' 'rank' and 'classification'
are all use to define the same thing: categorizing hotels.

Different organizations use a wide range of ranking schemes all over the
world. Many people use a star system, with the number of stars reflecting the
amount of luxury. In 1958, Forbes Travel Guide (formerly Mobil Travel Guide)
introduced its star rating system.

Food and beverage facilities, entertainment, views, room variations such as

size and additional amenities, spas and fitness centers, ease of access, and
location can all be take into account when setting a norm. In conventional
systems, hotels are judge individually and are highly reliant on the amenities
offered. Some see this as a drawback for smaller hotels, where the quality of
the accommodations may fall into one category but the lack of a function such
as an elevator prevents them from achieving a higher level of classification.

Hotels and motels use "star" ratings and letter grading from "A" to "F" as the
most common classification systems. Rather than hotel standard, words like
Deluxe/Luxury, First Class/Superior, Tourist Class/Standard, and Budget

6
Mandatory Amenities and Services in 4-5 Star Hotels

Class/Economy are more commonly know as hotel styles. Belgium,

Denmark, Greece, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and
Hungary all have laws describing hotel scores.

“Upscale Comfort” gets a 4-star rating.

Four-star hotels, also recognized as superior hotels, are big, upscale

facilities that are fully staffed and fitted with a plethora of amenities. The
luxurious touches, such as lavish bed sheets and fine shower gels, are
included in the spacious rooms, which are beautifully build with luxury
furnishings and include luxurious touches such as lavish bedsheets and fine
bath products.

Concierge facilities, fine dining, numerous pools and hot tubs, high-class
fitness facilities, housekeepers, conference rooms, parking facilities, day spa
treatments, limousine, and a range of exclusive suites are all available at four-
star hotels.

“Glarmous” gets a 5-star ranking.

The most expensive hotels in the globe are five-star hotels. These luxury
hotels offer glamorous lobbies, unrivaled service, and unrivaled comfort. They
have cutting-edge home interiors and lavish furnishings, making them look
like architectural pieces of art.

You would not have to raise a finger as a visitor in a five-star hotel. Many of
these hotels have personal butlers or appointed concierges to their guests.
High price linens, a private Jacuzzi bathroom, a huge Plasma TV with
elevated cable, a Games console, elevated Access to the internet, flower
arrangements, and lavish bath items are standard features in the vast five-
star rooms.

As a crucial and fundamental part of tourism supply, accommodation is a

pillar of the tourism sector. Tourists need a place to rest and recharge their
batteries while on the road. As a result, commercial accommodations have
sprung up. In terms of location and facilities offered, there is a wide variety of
size and style of accommodation. Accommodation facilities offer various
services depending on their target customer classes. Tourism is a social,
political, and financial phenomenon that includes people traveling to countries
or locations that are different from their normal surroundings. Their activity
may be for personal or business reasons.

Tourists, excursionists, locals, and non-residents are all examples of

travelers, and tourism refers to the activities they participate in. Any of the
practices they participate in suggest tourism spending, such as the

9

accommodation or food they eat. Accommodation serves as a base from

which tourists can participate in any operation at a destination; thus, travel
would be incomplete without it. When tourists travel for purpose of
sightseeing, they almost always need some sort of accommodation to rest
and refresh during their journey.

As consequence, it appears that human transportation required

accommodation. The human race has a vast number of footages of
accommodation. Accommodation comes in a number of shapes and sizes,
with varying levels of quality, but the main aim is to satisfy their customers.
Accommodation can be categorize in a variety of ways, including price, venue,
visitor category, and services offered. Any visitor or guest can find the best
options for their budget, from the most luxurious five-star accommodation to
the most accessible hotels, and from one-star to five-star camping sites.

The geographic position also determines the type of accommodation

available. Some are located in the city, while others are in the countryside. It
can also be target to particular target groups. Business travelers and families
may be target by some lodging facilities, while leisure travelers may be target
by others.

While hotels are the most popular form of accommodation, there are
numerous other options. In response to the need for additional housing, it has
been build in various parts of the world. It can be categorized according to its
venue, services offered, management styles, and so on. These types of rooms
are less expensive for travelers than large hotels and resort hotels. They only
have rudimentary services here.

In exchange for a fee, the types of rooms are designed to provide customers
with an overnight and daily meals. The main benefit of this type of
accommodation is that it is fairly priced. Guests will be able to get the best out

10

as a system that ensures their operation. Infrastructure services include
material, technical and labor resources involved in the provision of hotel
services. Material and technical resources include buildings, structures,
engineering systems, equipment, raw materials and energy resources,
vehicles, etc., which create material conditions for the implementation of all
types of activities of hotel enterprises.

especially on the quality of supplies, services at the level of infrastructure
support of production activities; Expenses are a large and often decisive share
of costs infrastructure in the total cost of hotel enterprises

As part of the strategy to ensure the competitiveness of hotels, the need to

define a policy for the renovation or restoration of engineering systems and
equipment of hotels to improve the quality of service, etc. A number of
functions for managing the infrastructure of hotel enterprises include the

operation of the infrastructure support system for hotel operations.

An important area of activity of hotel enterprises in the conditions requiring

appropriate infrastructure support is the development and widespread use of
modern information technologies. The information system is designed to
ensure the full technological turnover of the hotel's production activities, from
the initial operations with the consumer to the purchase of all hotel services.

In addition, the system was designed to provide relevant information to the

services and departments of hotel establishments and provided resources for
the conduct of relevant operations at each workplace. Requirements for
individual elements affecting the category of hotels within the characteristics
and classification of infrastructure service facilities are contained in the
relevant regulations.

work in accordance with the requirements of modern society.

from business and corporate visitors. Visitors come for work every day,
whether it is to finish an aerodrome project, participate an international

industrialization, many high-ranking managers and directors now choose to

4. Inclusion New Amenities and Their Analysis

It's important to keep up when attempting to make your hotel pop out in the
eyes of visitors, especially with so many different hotel brands,
competitiveness from brief renters, and new technology. Renovations are
costly and time-consuming, but lodging amenities are a low-cost, elevated
way to differentiate yourself from the competition.

Today's visitors are looking for something fresh and useful. They want to be
pleasantly pleased with hotel facilities they can need. New amenities and
information about them are given below.

Check-in via mobile device

We constantly hear about living room innovation and development in the

hotel industry, however this creativity isn't confined to the room. You can
simplify your check-in process and to make your front office more
environmentally by using a tech-forward management system like Hoteltime.
There are no identification cards to sign and no photocopies for Hoteltime's
contactless check-in. Instead, via functionalities with check-in kiosk
technology suppliers, the entire process is performed on a tablet. The visitor
can leave messages on internet discussion cards after they've checked in,
and the front office clerk can submit their document to them when they're
prepared to leave.

Tablets in Rooms

Let's face it, the in-room knowledge binder is so last millenium. To find things
simpler for visitors and your workers to use, convert your bathroom guide to
an electronic medium on a tablet. With some guest bedroom tablet
applications, guests can find all of the details they need at the touch of a
finger, including room service menus and restaurant reviews, and they can

19
Mandatory Amenities and Services in 4-5 Star Hotels

even communicate the front desk via messaging service.

Technology for Fans and Hobbyists

İnnovation in hotels that appeals to particular guest expectations for a totally

special hospitality experience. Certain facilities may or may not be applicable
to your customer experience, while others may contribute to long-term guest
loyalty. Transform a seldom-used conference space into a golf room with a
golf machine, for example, to appeal to visitors who enjoy golfing. If your hotel
lacks the space for a complete health club, invest in a few Peloton bicycles
that can be sent to guestrooms upon demand. Though the bicycles can be
expensive, they are often less expensive than the cost of setting up a
complete gym.

In-Room Cocktail Station

Special guestroom drink channel is another way to elevate your in-room

beverage atmosphere. Incorporate some unique cuisine into guest bedroom
amenities with an unique cocktail recipe and products that match the
property's history or personality. Alternatively, add a Porthole ultrasonic
humidifier to your guestroom amenity collection to have a more unforgettable
cocktail opportunity, allowing guests to blend their wonderful balance of fruits
and spices in the afternoon and sip a tasty drink in the evening.

Rollaway Tent

Give the kids a once-in-a-lifetime experience with : a rollaway shelter. When

the whole family is sharing a bed, this cool amenity is a great experience for
the kids and helping give some confidentiality.

4.1 Development of Tourism Animation Programmes in Hotels

as a Mandatory Service

The leisure facilities requested by visitors in vacation resorts are referred to

as animation. These services are essential for hotels to draw visitors, compete
effectively with other hotels, and raise brand awareness. Today,
entertainment is one of the most significant reasons to fly. Tourists are always
on the lookout for outdoor opportunities and ways to have a good time. Hotels
usually meet this demand by arranging for entertainment events.

Tourists seeking active recreation can choose from a variety of choices,

including activities, international activities, outdoor/indoor activities, and
cultural crafts. Kids and adults are the most common target audiences for
animation services. Other demographic factors, such as age, must be
considered as well, since age is the most across that used to divide the market
and consumers. Additionally, demographic information can be used as
strategic planning inputs to help measure a company's performance.

Animation teams work with tourists throughout the day:In the morning, they
encourage you to enjoy and participate in fitness and health programs; in the
afternoon, they welcome you to live shows; in the evening, they plan a lively
show, birthday parties, dating events, dance nights, and so on. Game
activities, water activities, excursions, mountain biking, races, feature film and
animation demonstrations, and the function of various circles are all available
to children and young adults.

Animation is a type of service with the aim of enhancing service quality while
also serving as a form of advertisement, re-engaging visitors and their friends
while also promoting a tourist product on the market to increase the
profitability and profitability of the tourist industry. One of the most popular
ways to draw visitors to a hotel is by hotel animation. It also has an effect on

21
Mandatory Amenities and Services in 4-5 Star Hotels

the positive perception of the hotel's overall performance. These are extra
services provided to the client with the aim of eliciting positive feelings, a
sense of fulfillment from the rest, and a desire to return to the hotel.

Types of animation services include:

1. "Show museums" that are illustrated (tourists, sightseers are met at the
exposition in the hotel, etc. "revived" historical characters, involving them in
direct action).

2. Sports tournaments and games

3. Dance nights.

4.Carnivals are a fourth choice.

5. Video games.

6. Costumed, ethno-folklore, adventure, hobby tours, and other types of tours

are available.

Children's animation is one of the most significant aspects of hotel

animation. On the grounds of five- and four-star hotels, there are two types of
children's clubs: "mini" for children aged 3 to 12, and "junior" for young people
aged 12 to 15. Parents may leave their children here for the whole day under
the guidance of professional animators (usually with a pedagogical education)
who will take them to fun places or simply lie down nearby on the beach.

Working as an animator in a mini-club is demanding, as this person must

consider a variety of physiological and psychological characteristics of
children of various ages, as well as establish conditions in which any child will
be interested in him and be able to express and realize himself as a person.
To coordinate successful work with children, it is important to have suitable
premises for children to stay in during the summer months and in inclement

22
Mandatory Amenities and Services in 4-5 Star Hotels

weather, as well as various equipment for drawing, modeling, outdoor and

creating games, among other things.

As a result, we can draw the following conclusions:

1. International tourism is becoming one of the most important factors in the

global economy as it grows in importance. Tourism is becoming heavily reliant
on animation technologies.

2. In today's world, with so much competition in the visitor services industry,

it's hard to imagine a hotel complex without any kind of animation program.

3. Hotel animation plays an important role in establishing a positive social

environment in the hotel, which in turn creates the conditions for visitors to
return, resulting in a substantial increase in the hotel's reputation and revenue.

4.2 How is 5 stars hotels different from other star hotels?

In the transport, tourism, and hotel industry, this is a highly contentious

subject. To add to the uncertainty, not only are there several ranking systems
(Forbes, AAA, etc.), but the parameters used to assign stars are totally
subjective and differ from country to country. From the viewpoint of the user,
the best way to get what you want based on the "rating" is to go online and
read as many "on-line feedback" as possible (wisdom of the crowds). Many
travelers who rely on "ratings" have had a less-than-satisfactory stay, only to
be further disappointed when they discover that there is no legal remedy.

The key differences

1) Valet parking, concierge, 24/7 reception, and 24-hour room service are all

5. Conclusion

The most significant considerations for five-star hotels were hygiene,

recreational facilities, and room prices, while hotel location was a less
significant factor for consumer. Restaurants efficiency, as well as in-time
facilities and Internet speed, were the least significant factors. Customers in
both hotels rated the environment, accommodation facilities, and food quality
as the three most important factors. The three major elements of service
quality are the service system, the service plan, and the service provider. In
fact, all elements are inextricably linked to the consumer.

The best services are determined by the type of visitor to the hotel. As a
result, many hotels cater to a particular type of traveler. The hotel's facilities
are determined by the hotel's type and the type of traveler.

The number of business hotels is increasing. These provide a variety of

ideal facilities for business travelers who need to stay linked at all times. Free
Wi-Fi, connectors for computers and mobile devices, desks in the suites,
ironing kit, and laundry service (for an extra fee) are typical business hotel
facilities.

For a great vacation, the facilities are important. A coffee machine, a

refrigerator, dinner restaurants, and a spa are no longer sufficient.
Refrigerator with drinks and occasional refills, pillow menu, room service,
discovered service, sauna included, themed restaurants, and much more are
only a few of the amenities available.

Also available to family travelers are family facilities such as a family room
with a family bathroom, free stays for children under the age of six,
babysitters, a kids club with games and supervision during the day, a non-
motorized car for children, and more.

A selection of at least 2 complimentary newspapers, offered and provided,

a welcoming gift upon entry, 24-hour front desk, include hot meals, and a
pleasant display during turn - down facility are all included in the five-star
amenities. During bar and cocktail service, at least two types of high quality
foods are immediately served and prominently displayed.

All flavored syrups come with a changed or full club service choice. And
the staff's work resources are conducted with full professionalism, with
papers neatly delivered in files or boxes. A 24-hour concierge facility and
parking facilities are also required.

While both a 4-star and 5-star hotel can be considered luxury, the service
provided by each differs. A 5-star hotel will have 24-hour butler service, room
service, and an in-room bar at no extra charge, while a 4-star hotel will
charge you for these services on top of your room stay.
