1. PURPOSE
This Method Statement describes the Installation of Submersible Waste Water Pump, to ensure that during all
steps work will be undertaken efficiently as possible and by adhering to all appropriate quality, health, safety,
security and environmental requirements of the Hangar for Qatari Emiri Maintenance Corp Of Qatar Armed Forces
project contract.
2. SCOPE
The method statement is prepared to ensure the requirements for the Submersible Waste Water Pump in the
Hangar for Qatar Emiri Maintenance Corp. of Qatar Armed Forces Project carried out in the prescribed manner
and complying with the Safety and Health procedure as well. This includes but is not limited to the Material
delivery, Material Storage, Material Handling, pipe, fittings, support systems, inspection and testing

5. RESPONSIBILITY
1- PROJECT MANAGER
• Responsible for controlling the project entire activities & for the overall coordination with the consultant.
• Responsible for overall responsibility of approval, resourcing, meeting the schedule and Site Safety.
• Ensure that adequate welfare facilities and equipment are provided to the project to avoid injury, health
impairment or damage
• Ensure providing quality works within the planned timescale.
2- Technical Engineer
• Prepare all required shop drawings as per the IFC drawings, including detailed plans, sections, BBS etc.
• Ensure that all shop drawings are approved prior to start work on site.
• Supporting and helping the procurement/construction departments by technical advising.
• Receiving Engineer’s comments and advising the site people on spot and ensuring the close-out of their
comments.
• Coordination all MEP services with the architectural and structural drawings.
3- QA/QC ENGINEER
• Responsible for the work entire Quality Assurance, Quality Control & inspection programs.
• Produce all Quality related documents & necessary quality reports as requested.
• Provide written procedures & to coordinate in formalizing the Method Statements with the Construction
Manager/Site Engineers to describe the job specific work for each stage/activity
4- HSE ENGINEER
• Ensure that all workers have a safe place of work, advice safe system of work and provide adequate
instructions, training and supervision to enable employees to work in safety.
• Carry out site survey on daily basis to ensure that the HSE Methods of working are in operation & that all
regulations are being observed.
• Report, determine & analyse the cause of any accident or dangerous occurrence and recommend measures
for preventing recurrence.
5- SITE ENGINEER
• Adheres to the Project specific method statements, procedures, inspection programs & HSE instructions to
get the activities performed to client satisfaction with full coordination with the HSE & Quality personnel.
• Responsible to ensure that correct drawings, materials, tools and equipment are provided on site.
• Liaising with subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in
the project.
6- FOREMAN
• Performed the activities that instructed from the Site Engineer at site and follow the safety procedures to
make safe to his workers.
• Read and interpret work drawings and specifications.
• In charged to lead the work executions and the focal point in coordinating with site engineer related to
overall site activity, materials, tools and equipment.
7- SKILLED LABOURS:
• They shall daily assist the handling of materials, tools and equipment safely. They shall do housekeeping in
order to maintain the working area tidy, before leaving site on daily basis. They shall maintain the
arrangement and preparedness of the tools and
Equipment’s at the site in order to progress the work smoothly and continuously.
They do identification of the underground utilities in order to protect them, other related works and tasks
6. QUALITY CONTROL
• All works will be undertaken in compliance with the quality requirements of the Contract and the Project
Quality Plan.
• The quality control activities associated with the works will be conveyed to all personnel involved in the
execution of the works prior to the commencement of the work.
• An IR shall be made for the Inspections to be submitted to CICO Engineer.
All equipment will comply with the requirement of project specification and HSE guidelines. All equipment will
have valid certificate and inspections. Tools and equipment are given below.
I. Electrical Drill:
A cordless drill is an electric drill which uses rechargeable batteries.
II. Scaffolding/ Ladders:
For climbing at height.
III. Spirit level:
A spirit level, bubble level or simply a level is an instrument designed to indicate whether a
surface is horizontal (level) or vertical.
8. WORK METHODOLOGY
8.1 Material Delivery, Handling and Storage
All materials shall be submitted for approval prior to procurement.
All materials will be delivered on site by truck/trailer.
Subcontractor shall notice MDS for any material 24 hours before delivery.
All incoming materials are to be checked during unloading & possible damages to be reported
on the delivery notes and immediately removed from site.
All Material received at site shall be inspected by QA/QC engineer to ensure that the materials
are as per approved material submittals in terms of their make, model, type, country of origin
and capacity.
MIR to be raised along with delivery notes, material approval cover page, country origin
certificate, and any necessary test reports or certificates.
Pumps will be stacked on a flat surface free from sharp projections, stones or other objects likely
to caused point loading or pipe deformation.
Materials received at site shall be inspected randomly and ensure that the materials are as per
approved material submittals.
Pumps will not be dropped and will not be dragged along the ground. Wherever possible the
loading and unloading of pumps will be carried out manually by hand.
If mechanical lifting equipment is used, ensure no metallic slings, hooks or chains will be used in
direct contact with the pumps. Rope or nylon belt sling will be preferred which will not damage
the pump surface.
The product must be stored at an ambient tempreture from -40 ° C to 50°C
All other mechanical and electrical Items such as Electrical panels,valves etc. will be stored in the
boxes as supplied by the fitting manufacturer.
Any discrepancies, damage etc. found to the materials in any point of construction will be
notified and reported to QA/QC Engineer and Project Engineer for further action.
Materials found not suitable for site use should be removed immediately.
While unloading, shifting and storage, it should be ensured that there are no damages.
8.2 Preparation of Work
Documents required for the execution of the construction work are of the latest issued prior to
starting the work. (Specifications, Coordination Drawing, Approved Shop Drawings etc.)
Skilled manpower required for carrying out the construction work.
Installations of Pump shall be executed in accordance with approved shop drawings & approved
material which shall be approved before the works proceed.
Ensure that the pumps must conform to the requirements as outlined in QCS section 19 part 02
2.3 in strict accordance to systems approved plans.
Mobilization of equipment and materials which are required for installation of pumps.
Make sure before installing the pumps and fittings that the visual dimensional and quantitative
checks have been carried out properly and it fully complies with the drawings and specifications.
Before & during the installation works, study of the contract working drawings & specifications
must be done. The detail and nature of the existing obstruction and future installations, in order
to fully coordinate the work to be done.
Ensure that the Pump to be installed is accessible such that it may be readily maintained.
Use the correct size of drill bit to make the hole as per the size of expansion bolt to be used for
anchoring of volute bottom of the pump. Make sure that drilling should be perpendicular to the
concrete foundation.
Al MDS/UEI shall notify consultant for all material inspections and approval.
Prior to installation ensure final fix material is approved and in accordance with MDS, QCS 2014,
Project Specifications.
Arrangement to provide manufacturer's installation manuals.
Ensure that all work areas have been released by the main contractor, prior to proceeding with
the work.
Coordinate with the BMS team for necessary control cables for pumps status monitoring, if
applicable.
After all the above works is done satisfactorily, prepare and submit the Work Inspection Request
to the Consultant for approval and keep record of the result.
9. HEALTH / SAFETY / ENVIRONMENT
9.1 General
The health and safety activities are to be in accordance with the relevant Health, Safety and
Environmental requirements
Make sure all employees are Safety inducted before they can work on site.
Make sure employees take the right equipment with them on visits. Check they have been
trained and know how to use it.
Keep available, records of hazards on particular sites. Make sure all relevant people are
notified.
Make sure a supply of the right equipment is available.
Helmets, steel capped high angle shoes, Safety goggles, High visibility jackets, face
masks, overalls should be appropriate and in good condition.
Assess the risks of manual handling before going to the site and look at the materials being
used or stored.
Extended Activities shall be conducted such that the required Lux will be available as per
QCS 2014 during night shift
The lifting area should be barricaded and appropriate signs boards to be fixed to warn and
avoid the unauthorized entry.
Copies of drivers/operator’s license vehicle’s registration and security passes to be
submitted to Company safety department before commencing the work.
All moving crane/equipment shall have reverse horn. All major equipment and crane shall
be tested and certified by Third Party prior to mobilization to site.
Ample and unobstructed passage shall be maintained at all times in and around the truck
loading and lifting space.
All equipment movement at job site must be controlled by third-party certified rigger/banks
man.
Trained, Competent and Authorized Supervision present at all times to ensure workers are
safely working on site.
All scaffolds to be inspected and tagged by only competent scaffold inspector.
Working at height above 2 m requires the use of fall arrester/ full body harness as per QCS
