Poem- A pocketful of sympathy

Methodology- explanation,
illustration and demonstration

Learning objectives:

 To create interest in poetry.


 To motivate them to understand others pain and sorrows.
 To enrich the students vocabulary of English.
WARM UP ACTIVITY:
A short story on sympathy
DISCUSSION :

 Have you ever showed sympathy to someone? Share your experience?


 Or think about the time when somebody has been sympathetic towards you.
ANNOUNCEMENT: After collecting various experiences of different students, teacher can announce the topic
that is going to be done in the class. (Poem- A POCKETFUL OF SYMPATHY)
Teacher will read aloud the poem with rythm twice along with the explanation of the poem
and will also share some glossary with the students.
Pocketful- as much of something one can hold
Sympathy- a understanding of other’s feelings , especially their problems
Bruise- a mark that appears on the skin after somebody has been hit
Pudding- a sweet food

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT:
Students will read the poem again and will describe their favourite picture among the all given in the poem.
