A Detailed Lesson Plan in Science

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. Review and recall the names of the planets in our solar system

b. Know the order of the planets size, from largest to smallest

c. Know some special names of the planets.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: The Solar System

Materials: PowerPoint, Google Meet and Google form
Reference: The Solar System ED 3 page 10-12
III. Procedure

A. Preparatory Activities

Greetings Students: Good Morning, Sir. Kian!

Teacher: Good Morning class!

Prayer Vito: Yes, Sir Kian!

Teacher: So before we start, we pray (stand up to lead the prayer)

first and feel the presence of our Lord. Please, Heavenly Father, help us to

(the teacher will call a student to lead fulfill our responsibilities as

the prayer) responsible and loving students

today. Give us direction and care as
Vito can you lead the prayer?
we complete our jobs. Give us
assistance in making judgments. We
pray that you will reward our teachers
for their patience in teaching us each
day. Bless our parents for their
unwavering support. Thank you, Lord,
for all of the benefits you shower upon
us. You are our pillar of strength and
support. Amen.

Teacher: Thank you Vito for that

meaningful prayer.

(the teacher will assign a student to

list down students who are absent)

Teacher: Mika how many students are Mika: None, Sir Kian.
absent today?

Teacher: Very good class! I’m very

glad to hear that. I will give you a gift!
Here is a star chip worth 1 point for All: Thank you, Sir. Kian!
recitation. I only give each one of you
a gift because you all are very
hardworking student.
(the teacher giving a chips worth 1
points to all students for their
recitation)
Teacher: After receiving a gift, what
will you say?

B. Review and Recall

Teacher: Very good class!
We will have a continuation about our
discussion that we tackled last time.
But before that…
All: The Solar System
Do all of you remember what is our
topic last time?

Teacher: Very good class!

All: Yes, Sir Kian

C. Mood Setting/ Motivation:
Teacher: Are you excited class?

(conducting 1st wave of graded recitation

to know if the student is actively listening)

Teacher: We will have a game called “I’ll

give you my stars but you will give me my All: Yes, Sir Kian
name”. The star chip you have right now
is bigger than the star chip you see in my
hands. This Big Star Chip is worth 5
points. We all know the importance of our
star together with our planets. When
skies are dark these stars would light up
the sky giving people light. I’ll give you
this Big Star Chip but you will answer
what is the name of the planet that I will
say to you. This is our graded recitation
class. Are you ready class?
(Jeremy raise his hand)
Teacher: Write your answer in Jeremy: Teacher! Teacher! I am the Sun!
whiteboard using marker. I shine the brightest!

Teacher: 1st question Jeremy: Thank you Sir. Kian!

I’m a burning ball of fire. What is my
name?
(Justine raise his hand)
Teacher: Very Good Jeremy! Here is Justine: Sir! Sir! The place where we all
your live is Earth!
Big Star Chip worth 5 points.
Justine: Thank you Sir. Kian!
nd
Teacher: 2 question
I’m the place where we all live. What is
my name?

Teacher: Very Good Justine! Here is your

Big Star Chip worth 5 points. (Ruby raise his hand)
Ruby: Sir Kian! My answer is Uranus
because I remember this planet as the
coldest and Icy Giant Planet!
Ruby: Thank you Sir. Kian!

Teacher: 3rd question

I’m the coldest planet in our solar system.
What is my name? All: Yes, Sir Kian!

Teacher: Very Good Ruby! Here is your

Big Star Chip worth 5 points.

Teacher: Are you all enjoying class?

Teacher: Very Good, class!

D. Presentation

Teacher: Bring your ballpens and

notebooks, kindly jot down notes
because I’ll be checking your notebook
after the discussion.

Teacher: Today class we will be having

the continuation of our topic The Solar
System. Last time we’ve tackled the
identification of each planet. But this time
we will be knowing the order of the
planets size from largest to smallest and
knowing the distance of planets in order
from the sun.

Teacher: The Solar System.

The Solar System is consisting of 8
planets. The order of planet around the
Sun. 1st Mercury, 2nd Venus, 3rd Earth, 4th
Mars, 5th Jupiter, 6th Saturn, 7th Uranus
and 8th Neptune.

Teacher: In our second slide we will see

the order of planets according to its size,
from smallest to largest.

Teacher: First is planet Mercury, this is

the first smallest planet closest to the Sun
in our Solar System.

Teacher: The second one is Mars, the

second smallest planet in our solar
system. This planet is also known as the
“Red Planet”.

Teacher: The third one is Venus, the third

smallest planet in our Solar System.

Teacher: Next one, the fourth, it is very

familiar to us kids! This is our home, the
Earth. Earth is the fourth smallest and
fifth largest planet in our solar system.

Teacher: Fifth one, the Neptune, Neptune

is the fifth smallest and the fourth largest
planet of our solar system. Often called
as the “Ice Giant”.

Teacher: Sixth, Uranus, the sixth smallest

and third largest planet in the solar
system.

Teacher: The Seventh planet, Saturn, the

seventh planet from the Sun and the
second largest planet in our solar system.
Also Saturn is called “The Ringed
Planet”.

James: Sir! Sir! Mercury!

Teacher: The Eight one, last planet is…
Planet Jupiter. The largest planet of all in
our solar system.

Teacher: Put down your ballpens and

notebooks. Vince: Sir! Sir! Mars!

(conduct 2nd wave of recitation to know if

student is actively listening)
Princess: Sir! Sir! Venus!
Teacher: James, what is the first smallest
planet in our Solar System?

Teacher: Very Good! One point for

James!
Dianne: Sir! Sir! The Earth!
Teacher: Vince, what is the second
smallest planet in our Solar System?

Teacher: Very Good! One point for

Vince!

Teacher: Princess, what is the third

smallest planet in our Solar System? Kobe: Sir! Sir! Neptune!

Teacher: Very Good! One point for

Princess!

Teacher: Dianne, what is the fourth

smallest planet and the fifth largest planet
in our Solar System? Ethan: Sir! Sir! Uranus
Teacher: Very Good! One point for
Dianne!

Teacher: Kobe, what is the fifth smallest Bryle: Sir! Sir! Saturn!
planet and the fourth largest planet in our
Solar System?

Teacher: Very Good! One point for Kobe!

Hannah: Sir! Sir! That’s Jupiter!

Teacher: Ethan, what is the sixth smallest
planet and the third largest planet in our
Solar System?

Teacher: Very Good! One point for

Ethan! Mark: Sir! Sir! Mars is called a Red
Planet!
Teacher: Bryle, what is the seventh
smallest planet and the second largest
planet in our Solar System?
Tobbie: Sir! Sir! Neptune is called
Teacher: Very Good! One point for Bryle! an Icy Giant!

Teacher: Hannah, what is the eight

planet and the largest planet of all in our
Solar System?

Teacher: Very Good! One point for

Hannah!

Teacher: Do you still remember what

others called to Mars? Where is Mark.

Teacher: Very Good! One point for Mark! Ryan: Sir! Sir! The Ringed Planet!

Teacher: What about Neptune any

volunteer? Yes, Tobbie!

Teacher: Very Good! One point for

Tobbie!

Teacher: Last, Ryan, what about the

Saturn?

Teacher: Very Good Ryan! One point for

you!
