EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Adapt Secure Solutions Ltd is pleased to present the Department of Commerce &
Industry with this quote proposal to supply locally developed SME Training Modules.
The SME Training Modules are PNG-specific and comprehensive, covering key aspects
of the SME business administration. They are highly interactive and over simplified,
suitable to train budding entrepreneurs to impart the much needed business and
financial literacy skills generally lacking in the PNG SME sector.

The training manuals are comprised of 9 series, to be studied together. They come
with both the participant and instructor guides, and are very user-friendly. The training
modules have been developed based on the author’s expertise, and his interactions
and extensive experiences working with PNG SMEs over the last 10 years since 2012.

Our Aims/Goals

The author aims to:

 Assist the Department with these relevant and PNG-specific SME Training manuals
to be used in its training programs across PNG;
 Assist the Department’s trainers to deliver highly interactive and simplified training
materials;
 Ensure, through the Department, these suitable locally developed materials reach
bulk of the SMEs in PNG, aligned to the Government’s SME Policy 2016 to achieve
500,000 SMEs by 2030;
 And the author looks forward to supporting the Department with much needed
and locally grown technical support, if required, on a continual basis.

SME TRAINING NEEDS BASSED ON RELEVANT MATEIALS

Over the last 10 years working as a business development and SME private consultant,
the author of these modules has come to realize that there exists a huge need for
business and financial literacy skills training throughout PNG to equip the small
entrepreneurs with basic business skills across all industries to effectively grow the SME
sector.

Currently, information is only available to SMEs in the cities and towns, and sadly rural-
based SMEs are largely missing out. This gap, however, can be linked by the
Department, working in partnerships with respective provincial and local level

governments, including private trainers/institutions through resources sharing and

logistical support, to deploy the training to the length and breadth of PNG before
2030.

It is the author’s intention to have these locally developed materials reach all centres
in PNG and a very good number of SMEs are accessing the materials and or trainings.
It is also the author’s desire to continue to provide technical support and advice
through the Department and on available platforms to see transformation in the SME
sector in PNG by 2030.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Because of the relevancy and simplicity of the materials and the fact that they were
developed by a local expert who fully understands the SME business circumstances
of PNG, it is highly recommended that the Department use these training modules
and deploy them to all provincial centers in PNG for SME training.
